One of the quickest growing operations in North American karting over the last few seasons is Velocity Racing. The Florida-based race team grew from a few drivers to now becoming the official Sodikart team in the United States and the official importer for Sodikart brand. Taking over from Sodi Racing USA, the base of the distribution and dealer network remains intact as Velocity Racing looks to expand the brand’s reach while producing results on-track with the race team.

Velocity Racing is owned by Kris Kenific, and Rick Rosin is the Director of Operations for the company. Rosin has decades of experience in motorsports and most recently served as a driver coach to many young drivers both in his native Brazil and also here in the United States. Now, he leads the Velocity Racing operation and has assembled a team to help drive the brand to the top of the industry and on the track. Ricardo Pinheiro is the lead mechanic for the Senior and Junior drivers with Dahyam Cabral acting as the lead mechanic for the Cadet drivers. Felipe Brandao rounds out the operation as the leader for the in-house engine department.

The second part of the Velocity Racing operation is the driver roster. Leading the way are the two premier drivers under the tent – Matheus Morgatto and Caden McQueen. Morgatto – the 2022 FIA Karting World Champion – has become one of the top shifterkart drivers, not only in North America, but in the world since moving over to gearbox competition in 2024. Joining Velocity at the end of 2025, Matheus put in one of the best seasons in 2026 with the Brazilian earning victory at all three Superkarts! USA Pro Tour events to become now a two-time SKUSA champion.

“Matheus’s success certainly helped bring more drivers to the team; he is an excellent driver and has a good personality,” stated Rosin. “He helps all the new drivers when they join the team. For Las Vegas, we should have around 15 shifterkart drivers under the tent. That shows how strong our package is in the USA and around the world.”

Velocity Racing and Sodikart have had success on the single speed side of racing in the Senior division as well. Midway through the 2025 season, British driver McQueen joined the Velocity stable and put in the results quickly. He ended the 2025 season second in the EKN TaG Driver Rankings and won the ROK Vegas main event in the new ROK SV Pro division. Caden continues to lead the team in the Senior ranks, both in X30 and KA competition, while providing driver coaching to the younger drivers on the team.

“McQueen is working pretty well with the kids,” Rosin commented. “When we held the Velocity Racing Summer Camp, he and the rest of our staff were able to develop new skills for the young drivers. Caden is always pushing the drivers to take the next step. His experience is very important to the team.”

The third element of Velocity Racing, aside from the race team and the chassis distribution, is the in-house engine program. ‘Velocity Power’ helps to take drivers to the top of the podium in X30, KA and Swift categories, along with all their ROK and VLR powerplants at ROK Cup USA events – including four podium finishes at the ROK Vegas 2025. What makes their Velocity Power trackside service so unique is the team’s trailer dyno, which shows their commitment providing maximum power through all their engine packages. For national races, the VP engines stay within the tent program, but they do rent out engines for local races.

“Our engine program has been successful throughout 2026,” added Rosin. “Our focus is on KA100 and Swift engines. We won the SKUSA Winter Series championship with Collin Lloyd in KA100 Senior and McQueen has been fighting for wins all season. We have worked hard to get more engines in the top level, and we can guarantee that we have succeeded. For Minis, we are at the same level as the top engines. Like the KA program, we worked hard to get our Swift engines performing at the same level. Our most recent races proved they are running at a top level.”

Velocity Racing slimmed down its schedule for the closing months of the 2026, putting their focus on the Superkarts! USA Pro Tour and the United States Pro Kart Series events. Moving ahead to the rest of the year, and into 2027, the team is going to be supporting more club events, including the AMR Homestead-Miami Motorplex and the Orlando Kart Center, along with the Florida Karting Championship program. The year will close out with the two big events in Las Vegas, including ROK Vegas 2026 and SKUSA SuperNationals 29. Velocity left ROK Vegas last year with lots of hardware, including the victory for McQueen, a second for Lloyd in VLR Senior, a third place for Adrien Renaudin in ROK Shifter, Santiago Orioli as the runner-up in Mini ROK and Lenox Lockhart finishing third in Micro ROK.
