The Great Lakes region is home to many motorsport facilities in its surrounding states, including Illinois. The Blackhawk Farms Raceway near the border of Wisconsin in South Beloit, Illinois, is among that list. Established in 1967, the circuit has welcomed the sport of karting for decades. The River Valley Kart Club is looking to rejuvenate the annual trip, hosting a one-off road racing event over the weekend of August 28-30.

River Valley Kart Club is bringing karting back to the 1.95-mile road course surrounded by farmland. For many years, the Championship Enduro Series hosted the annual event with support from the RVKC. The passing of series promoter Dave Larson left a void, with the event missing from the racing season over the past two years. Those within the RVKC have banded together to bring back the annual trip to Blackhawk that has been a very important part of the karting community for those in the Wisconsin and Illinois region.

“As one of the oldest kart racing clubs in America, River Valley Kart Club, established in 1959, has been a pivotal member in the karting community hosting both sprint and road racing events,” commented Scott Henry, president of River Valley Kart Club. “RVKC has been hosting races at Blackhawk Farms since the early 1980’s and the track is definitely one of Midwest’s favorites among drivers. It is the perfect size for karts and is in many regards a large sprint track which makes for great racing action. The club also hosted sprint races at its dedicated track in Gilberts, Illinois. Blackhawk Farms provides a great atmosphere for racers and family to enjoy a great weekend or fun and racing. We are blessed to have the opportunity to keep our ‘HOME’ race track ours for this year and years to come, it is all up to us for the support. The August 28-30 weekend will be formatted like many other road racing events. Friday will feature practice by groups from 9am to 4:30pm. Both Saturday and Sunday will have eight race groups along with two racing sessions for Cadet level drivers – one at the beginning of the order and ending the day with a second Cadet session.

The categories is a mix of divisions, from sprint to enduro (laydown) to superkart – 2-cycle and 4-cycle divisions, 100cc TaG, 125cc TaG and shifterkart categories.
