CKNA North Division Returns to Road America

Briggs & Stratton Motorplex hosts second round of flagship Cup Karts North America program

The second event of the 2026 Cup Karts North America North Division was held at the historic Road America facility and the Briggs & Stratton Motorplex at Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. The third and fourth rounds of the championship welcomed the eight Briggs & Stratton categories competing on the 9/10-mile circuit that featured four double winners and two drivers who claimed one win in two different classes over the weekend.

Senior Medium featured the largest field of 11 drivers for the two rounds of racing at Briggs & Stratton Motorplex. Defending CKNA Grand Nationals champion Cale Zimmermann was able to secure the RLV Fastest Qualifier award with a time of 55.732. Zimmermann went wire-to-wire in the two heat races, taking the wins ahead of Jack Fieber and Brady Schad. The first seven laps of the 12-lap Feature was led by Zimmerman until Schad took the point. Zimmermann fell to third with Fieber also sliding by and taking over the lead on lap 10. Schad returned to the point leading the final two laps to secure his first victory of the season. The top five drivers all crossed the line within nine tenths. On the final circuit, defending series champion Nick Ksobiech went to second but a penalty dropped him off the podium into third. This promoted Emily DeMaster to second and Quinten McPherson to third. Fieber, who had fast lap of the race on Saturday, came back the following day for the RLV Fastest Qualifier award with a 55.380 to edge out Zimmermann by 54 thousandths. Zimmermann however had the advantage in race mode, taking the heat win by three tenths over Schad and leading the majority of the 14-lap Feature to win by over one second. Ksobiech was second with Fieber across the line in third, only to be moved back to fifth for a penalty. That promoted Schad to a third place finish.

It was similar results in the Senior Light division. Defending series champion Cale Zimmermann cleared the field by over two tenths in qualifying for the RLV Fastest Qualifier award with Brady Schad in second. Zimmermann fought off Schad for the win with Fieber moving up to second late in the opening heat race. The three fought again in the second moto with Fieber coming away with the top spot on the final circuit. Schad led the start of the 12-lap Feature before Fieber took control. Lap nine, Schad went back to the point and was able to lead to the checkered flag, securing his first victory of the season in the category. Zimmermann moved up to second to drop Fieber back to third. Fieber nearly pulled off the sweep on Sunday, beginning with the RLV Fastest Qualifier award, edging out Zimmermann by 26 thousandths. He drove back from falling to third to claim the win in the heat race. Fieber led the first two laps of the 14-lap Feature before Zimmermann and Schad took control. They exchanged the lead multiple times before Zimmermann gained control for the final three laps to claim victory. Fieber was second with Schad crossing the line in third.

Daniel Draganov was one of three drivers to sweep the entire weekend. Draganov was able to extend his win streak to four in the Junior category. Saturday began with the RLV Fastest Qualifier award with a lap of 56.293 to clear the field by over six tenths. Draganov went wire-to-wire in both heat races and the main event, taking the victory by over seven seconds. Lincoln Davis with Giana Lunski in third, both on the podium in the season debuts. Sunday was a duplicate performance as Draganov secured the RLV Fastest Qualifier award and won the heat race after an early fight with Slaton Baldock. The two were joined in the fight for the Feature win by Lunski with all three leading at one point. Draganov was able to secure the lead and showed the way for the final two laps for a fourth straight victory. Lunski improved to second with Baldock placing third.

Making his season debut, defending Cadet champion Grand Heckman was able to sweep the action over the two rounds at Road America. Heckman opened up Saturday with RLV Fastest Qualifier award and winning the two heat races. The 12-lap Feature was a green-to-checkered performance for Heckman, taking the victory by over four seconds ahead of Weston Kolar with Ava Hammel in third. Sunday began with only 59 thousandths separating the top two for the RLV Fastest Qualifier award with Heckman setting fast time over Kolar. In the heat race, Kolar kept it close however Heckman was able to run away to a six-second victory in the Feature for a weekend sweep. Kolar was second with Kaiper Nelson in third. Jon DeMaster was the third driver to sweep the weekend, running uncontested in Masters.

Multiple drivers were in the mix throughout the weekend in Senior Heavy. Kyle Lohmar came away with the RLV Fastest Qualifier award by edging out Jack Sutton and Nick Ksobiech. Sutton grabbed the win in the opening heat while Lohmar went back to the front of the second moto. Lohmar led the opening two laps before Ksobiech took over. He led the middle portion of the race until Sutton charged forward to claim the lead. Ksobiech fought back, returning to the point at the white flag and holding through the final circuit for a third victory on the season. Lohmar was second at the line but penalized to finish third, moving Connor Lund up to the second spot. Mason Rick entered the battle on Sunday to claim the RLV Fastest Qualifier award. Ksobiech was second in the session and crossed the line just ahead of Rick to win the Prefinal in a photo finish. Ksobiech used the pole position to lead all 14 laps of the Final to claim a fourth straight victory. Rick settled for second with Lohmar placing third with fast lap of the race.

Two drivers split the wins in Sportsman during the Road America weekend. It was a near sweep on Saturday for Evan Liesch, who earned the RLV Fastest Qualifier award but missed out on the opening heat race win to Liam Fohr by only 93 thousandths. Liesch struck back in second heat for the win before the two battled once again in the 12-lap Feature. Liesch led 11 of 12 circuits, holding off Fohr at the checkered flag by only 61 thousandths. Easton Yates was third on Saturday. Sunday was a sweep by Blake Learman. After earning the RLV Fastest Qualifier award, Learman led all 10 laps of the heat race before going wire-to-wire in the Feature to become the fourth different winner on the season. Easton Yates was second with Danny Pacelli in third.

Each day in the Kid Kart division featured a drive sweeping the action. Saturday belonged to defending series champion William Heckman. It was the RLV Fastest Qualifier award followed by two heat wins before leading all 12 laps of the Feature. Will Holzner was a close second with Charlie Meurer in third. Holzner took over the point on Sunday, earning the RLV Fastest Qualifier award before leading every lap of the heat race and Feature for his first victory of the season. Heckman settled for second with Meurer once again on the podium in third.
