T1D Racers, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to empowering youth living with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) through motorsports, is proud to announce that lead driver Collin Lloyd, an 18-year-old American racing driver living with T1D, has been invited to participate in a Porsche race car test during the Porsche Sprint Challenge Ibérica (PSCI) Round 2 at the Estoril Circuit in Portugal.
This opportunity, in collaboration with P21 Motorsports and series promoter Zeca Monroy, represents a major milestone in Collin’s progression from national karting into professional circuit racing. The invitation reflects a shared vision of developing emerging talent while promoting inclusion and opportunity within motorsports on an international stage.
Collin, the lead driver and ambassador for T1DRacers.org, has built a strong foundation in competitive karting, earning multiple national wins and championships in the United States and ranking among the top elite drivers in the country. Beyond performance, he plays a key role mentoring younger drivers living with T1D and representing the community both on and off the track.
“This opportunity is about more than just driving,” said Ryan Lloyd, Founder of T1D Racers. “It represents what’s possible when you combine passion, discipline, and the right support system. Collin is not only chasing his dream, he’s helping show other kids and families living with Type 1 Diabetes that there are no limits to what they can achieve.”
The Estoril test marks a potential transition point, as Collin explores opportunities to compete in the Porsche Sprint Challenge Ibérica later this year or in the 2027 season.
“This is not just about racing. It’s about showing what is possible,” said Collin Lloyd. “Type 1 Diabetes is part of my life, but it doesn’t define my limits.”
Founded in Miami FL. in 2017, T1D Racers has grown into a national platform with expanding international reach, connecting drivers and families from the U.S., Paraguay, Colombia, and the United Kingdom. The organization combines competitive motorsports with mentorship, education, and community engagement to inspire the next generation of athletes living with T1D.
The Portugal test represents a defining moment in that growth, placing a U.S.-based T1D driver on an international stage while continuing to build a pathway from karting to professional car racing.
T1D Racers is supported by a growing network of partners, including:
• Expo Convention Contractors, Inc. (Expo CCI) – A full-service trade show contractor operating across North and South America
• Coast Ink – Custom apparel and team branding
• Universal Drywall & Plumbing – Construction partner supporting healthcare facilities
• Steadfast Racing – Development partner for the kart-to-car program
• Sodi / Velocity Racing – National-level karting team competing across the United States
• Dorman Products – National partner providing parts support and technical resources
Members of the American community in Portugal, healthcare representatives, and motorsport stakeholders are expected to attend the test, further highlighting the importance of this moment for both sport and advocacy.
Looking ahead, T1D Racers continues to expand its mission through initiatives such as a planned national ride-along racing experience program, designed to give children living with Type 1 Diabetes the opportunity to experience motorsports firsthand.
Through every step, the mission remains clear:
Lead your diagnosis. Never be limited by it.
