If you’re rolling through any national series paddock on set-up day or after the races on Sunday, you’ll see many teams unloading or loading vertical stands stacked with four karts. Those stands are built by long-time karter and motorsports industry member Chuck Gafrarar. From Speed Concepts to Brandon Jarsocrak Racing, major teams, individuals, and families have purchased Chuck’s solution for racking multiple karts, which he’s dubbed the ‘Quad Stand’. The concept of maximizing space was the goal and his solution has helped many teams load their trailers more efficiently.

Gafrarar has been in the karting community and motorsports industry for over 40 years. From racer to fabricator to mechanic to kart dad, Chuck has lived the motorsports life. Gafrarar has been a fabricator in the trade since 1993 when he moved south to North Carolina to design and build kart chassis at Tubular Research, Inc (Trick Karts). This move eventually led Chuck into the world of NASCAR working for Penske Racing before he ventured out on his own with Chuck G Fabrication. From building 200+ mph NASCAR race cars to building displays that need to be set-up and torn down 36+ weekends per year, Chuck has always been dedicated to building products that can withstand the excessive travel and set up days in the marketing world.

His new company – Chuck G Fab Hub – continues to provide services in the NASCAR world, and in karting, he’s also built the podium stands and backdrops for Superkarts! USA. Gafrarar has always paid attention to detail and the needs of the customer.

On a trip to Europe to support his son Caleb’s karting career a number of years ago, and one with the Zilisch family, Chuck was a keen observer and as a fabricator, he’s always checking out new products in the sport. He was looking closely at some of the stacking kart stand designs used by the European teams. Jim Zilisch and Gary Willis urged Chuck to make a specific stacking stand, then another with some modifications, which led to his new Quad Stand.

The design of the stand allows four karts to be stood up and locked down, with only minor disassembly that is done by the mechanics at the end of the race weekend. The stand can be used for just two karts, or can accommodate a total of four, if fully optimized. The inside karts stack vertically with rear bumpers at the bottom, while the outside karts are flipped nose-down. The karts are then tie-strapped together, and some teams used shrink-wrap plastic around the karts to hold them in place. In this configuration, most trailers can hold two Quad Stands side-by-side. The stand can hold both Cadet and Junior/Senior sized karts.

Chuck tig welds his Quad Stands for the added strength. Basically, these stands haul $20k+ worth of chassis across the country. All stands are powder-coated and Chuck uses casters that will not go bad or flat.

Teams currently using the Quad Stand include Speed Concepts Racing, Brandon Jarsocrak Racing, Hotz Driver Development, Norberg Karting Academy, Mike Doty Racing, Bogart Motorsports, Precision Performance Karting, Orsolon Racing, Henry Motorsports, and Hi5 Performance Texas.
