eKartingNews.com is proud to present our Preview Series for the Superkarts! USA SuperNationals 28. Leading up to the on-track action of the 2025 edition of the marquee SKUSA event, EKN will preview each of the nine categories that will compete on the temporary circuit located outside the Las Vegas Motor Speedway in Las Vegas from November 12-16.

Trackside coverage is set to begin on Tuesday, November 11 as the EKN crew sets up our SuperNationals 28 home, roaming the LVMS grounds with Paddock Insider and social media content. Coverage continues into Wednesday as karts hit the track for the first time. EKN Live begins on Thursday, November 13 as qualifying is conducted for both the morning classes and the afternoon divisions. Listen LIVE to the heat races throughout Friday, November 14 and into Situation Saturday, November 15, including the five Last Chance Qualifiers held on the day. That sets everything up for SuperSunday, with the main events for SuperNationals 28 audio streamed live on eKartingNews.com/live and eKartingNews.com/radio.

KA100 Master

The newest category to the SKUSA SuperNationals is KA100 Master, which was introduced into the line-up in 2022. The class has taken over as the headline single-speed category for drivers over the age of 30. While there is no KA100 Master class on the SKUSA Pro Tour, multiple other programs including the Texas Sprint Racing Series and ProKart Challenge contest the division, and it had continued to sell out for Vegas over its first four editions.

A total of six former winners, including two from KA100 Master, is in the field of 48 drivers, including inaugural victor Martin Stone (RPG / Kosmic) and defending champion Ben Cooper (RPG / Kosmic). Stone is coming off the USPKS title in 2025 while Cooper ran to fourth at the recent ROK Vegas event. Cooper is vying to be part of the ‘Four Win Club’ that includes Danny Formal, Kip Foster, and Connor DePhillippk, having won in three different categories, including the DD2 division in 2013 and X30 Senior in 2018.

For the Australian Foster (BJR / LN Racing Kart), he seeks his first win since 2019 when he won his fourth in the X30 Master division. A third and seventh (provisionally second in 2024) have been his two finishes in the ‘Karting Australia’ division in Vegas. Renato Jader David (Orsolon / Tony Kart) and Derek Wang (NRC / LN Racing Kart) also have wins in the 125cc version of Master racing at the SuperNationals. RJD won back in 2016 at the LVCC and has ripped off six podium finishes since seeking a second victory in Vegas. Wang won a dramatic main event in 2021 in the event’s first visit to LVMS in X30 Master and he made his last start at the SuperNationals in 2022 in Master Shifter.

Over half of the field this year competed in last year’s race with four drivers returning from the top-five, including Cooper, Stone, RJD, and Laurentiu Mardan (Tecno Kart USA). Last year, Mardan was a late addition (after the first day of practice) after another driver withdrew from the event, offering him a spot for the two final practice sessions before qualifying 9th overall. He has three additional podiums dating back to 2018 at the SuperNationals. Other drivers to show well at the SuperNationals include former SKUSA Pro Tour champion Scott Falcone (Orsolon / Tony Kart), making his first start since 2016, fellow SKUSA Pro Tour champion Mario Barrios (RPG / Kosmic) who is back after missing the last two years, Carlos Calderon (SCR / CS55), Ariel Castro (RPG / Exprit), and Diego Pelosi (Orsolon / Tony Kart).

Chris Wehrheim (RPG / Kosmic) could be a factor, making his first start in KA100 Master after placing 12th in X30 Master back at SuperNats 25. ‘Mad’ Max Papis (Orsolon / Tony Kart) is back again after finishing 13th last year. TJ Nevels (HDD / Exprit) won his ticket to the SuperNationals through the Rock Island Grand Prix Scholarship program, and will be making his third straight start. Regional champions are in the field with TSRS title winner Pierce Baldus (Hi5 / Redspeed) back for a second start with former TSRS champion Miguel Mier (Orsolon / Tony Kart) making his ninth straight start at the SuperNationals. Clay Settles (Top Kart USA) has wins on SKUSA Pro Tour and in USPKS competition and 2025 will mark his first trip to Las Vegas.
