FAT Karting League SoCal Championship Set to Launch – Culminating in 2025 World Finals
Following the momentum of this year’s landmark launch, FAT Karting League (FKL) is bringing its unique model of accessibility and opportunity to Southern California this fall. The SoCal Karting Championship, based in LA, will mark the next stage in FKL’s mission to revolutionize motorsport pathways, giving grassroots drivers a direct shot at professional single-seaters.
The program kicked off in July with a series of assessments and continues in October with their final testing weekend, FAT community meetup, and racing action leading up to the prestigious FKL World Finals at Willow Springs, December 12–14, 2025.
Key Dates – SoCal LA Championship 2025
- October 4–5 – Final full weekend of assessments & testing at Adams Motorsport Track, Riverside LA. Book tickets here.
- October 9 – FAT Community Meetup in Los Angeles at the Peterson Museum featuring talks from FKL founders Ferdi Porsche and Rob Smedley. Book in here for free.

- October 25 – November 29 – SoCal Championship Rounds
- December 12–14 – FKL World Finals at Willow Springs International Raceway
The SoCal Championship serves as a qualifying pathway to the World Finals, where global champions will be crowned across multiple categories for kids ages 5-17: Bambino, Cadet, Cadet Light, Junior, and Junior Light.
The Prize Path – From SoCal to Formula 4
The FKL World Finals is more than just another karting event. It’s where dreams accelerate into reality. Drivers will compete for the chance to win a free year of karting and for age-eligible juniors, the opportunity to step directly into professional single-seaters.
- Winners of Bambino, Cadet and Cadet Light will win a free year of karting with FKL for 2026.
- Winners of Junior and Junior Light categories (pending age eligibility), plus two Wildcards, will advance to the F4 Assessment Event in February 2026 (UK and Spain).
From there, one driver will secure a fully funded seat in British F4 (pending eligibility)
Put simply: No World Finals = No chance at F4.
Limited Access, Unlimited Opportunity
The only way to qualify for the World Finals is through competitive racing with an FKL season pass. With certain grids already close to full capacity – including only five spots remaining in Junior Pro in SoCal – aspiring racers are urged to secure their place now.
FAT Karting League (FKL) is a new global motorsport initiative designed to make competitive racing more accessible while offering a genuine pathway into professional motorsport. With structured championships, transparent progression, and tangible prizes like a funded British F4 seat, FKL is rewriting the entry point to single-seaters.
Rob Smedley, CEO, Smedley Group:
“California’s passion for motorsport is unmatched. Launching here means tapping into a talent pool that deserves the same accessible pathway we’ve built in the Midwest.”
Ferdi Porsche, CEO, FAT International:
“Expanding to the West Coast deepens our commitment to making racing inclusive, regardless of background or budget. We’re excited to see young Californian racers step onto the global stage.”
