Every 12-year-old dreams of the Big Time. JohnJohn “Racer” McLellan of Redondo Beach, California will experience his ambitions in Italy September 25-28.

The 7th grader at Valor Christian Academy will participate in the prestigious FIA Karting World Cup in Cremona, Italy. The sport features small, open-wheeled “karts” that race up to 75 mph on tracks around the world. Champion F1 drivers such as Lewis Hamilton, Michael Schumacher and Max Verstappen began their careers in karts.

McLellan turned 12 in April and has been racing outdoor professional karts for five years.  He won to the ticket to the World Cup after winning round 4 of the national championship at Autodromo De Leon, Mexico in OKN-Jr category.  The OKN-Jr is one of the highest levels of junior karting (ages 12-15) with a 125cc 2-stroke water-cooled engine with 28 HP that revs at 15,000 RPM.

Although he lives in America, he will represent Mexico because most U.S. karting series are not directly sanctioned by the FIA. The World Cup is an exclusive international karting event made of only the world’s best driver recommended by the National Sporting Authorities (ASNs).  It is the ultimate proving ground for young racing talent—where national champions, factory teams, and emerging stars battle wheel-to-wheel on world-class circuits. Known for its fierce competition, cutting-edge machinery, and global prestige, the World Cup combines raw racing skill with technical precision in an event that shapes the future of motorsport.
