ROK Vegas Rio Hotel Confirmation Number Requirement
Dear ROK Vegas Competitors:
With a $110,000 prize package, we are very excited for the 2025 edition of ROK Vegas at the Rio, the home of karting in Las Vegas! Registration opened July 21st, at “High Noon” Las Vegas time (3pm Eastern).
Regarding registration, you will see a new required field on the registration form entitled: “Rio Hotel Reservation Confirmation Number”. I wanted to explain the reasoning for this being required.
The basis of the Rio (or any hotel/casino) allowing us to race on their property is filling a quota of “room nights” (nights our participants stay in their hotel). The Rio provides us a link to register for rooms; however, we know many competitors have Hyatt or Rio points or register their rooms via other outside links.
However, we are accountable for a set number of room nights to make the event happen. Last year, we had a long/painful audit to prove we fulfilled our room night obligations. To avoid that this year, we are requiring a 5-night confirmation number at the Rio Hotel to register.
My advice, register for your room (however you want to) & choose a “pay at hotel” option and/or know the reservation’s cancellation policy. Here is the Rio’s cancellation policy via the ROK Cup block:
“CANCELLATION POLICY: Reservations can be cancelled without penalty up to 72 hours prior to the arrival date. Any reservation cancelled within 72 hours of arrival will be charged first night’s room and tax.”
Regarding entering the ROK Vegas at the Rio, one of the best features of the Alpha Registration system is the “Pay at Track” option. This allows competitors to register, reserve their spot in the race & kart number, and pay when they arrive in Las Vegas. This is a great option for budgeting your expenses.
We know this is new/different requirement, but hope you understand the reasoning behind it. Events anywhere, but especially in Las Vegas, are complicated. We want to continue to bring ROKKERs the best & most affordable events we can and just need a little help & understanding from you to make them possible!
Sincerely,
Mike Burrell
