Vega recorded two top-10 results at the SpringNationals joining Rolison Performance Group for the first time

In his Junior level debut, 11-year-old Royce Vega was able to secure two top-10 finishes at the Superkarts! USA Pro Tour SpringNationals, held at the Motorsports Country Club of Cincinnati. At the Batavia, Ohio facility, the Rockwall, Texas driver joined the Rolison Performance Group to compete for the first time in the X30 Junior category.

The 2023 SKUSA SuperNationals Mini Swift winner and 2024 United States Pro Kart Series Mini Swift champion began the 2025 season staying in the same category, however, racing across the pond in Europe. Vega competed in the WSK Super Master Series, racing with BabyRace Driver Academy team. In the Mini Gr.3 category that welcomed over 85 drivers at the five rounds of competition, Vega finished 27th in the championship standings after making all five main events. Royce averaged 15th place over the five rounds of racing.

“I learned a lot competing in my first full European championship with the WSK,” stated Royce Vega on his start to the season. “I was able to adapt to the always changing conditions and high level of competition there, all on tracks I had never been to before. My best finish was 11th at Viterbo. The experience gave me a lot of track time and helped to boost my confidence.”

Returning back to the USA, Vega made the move up from the Cadet level to compete in the Junior ranks. He made his X30 Junior debut at the SKUSA SpringNationals, joining the Rolison Performance Group race team. Royce joined the squad for a test session the weekend prior, which helped get his footing around the full size kart and the extra power from the IAME X30 engine.

His first qualifying session during the Saturday round of action at MCC saw Vega end up ninth in a competitive field of 34 drivers. His pace for racing was there in the Prefinal, advancing up to fifth with lap times similar to that of the leaders. The entire 20 lap main event was a battle for Royce, locked in a fight to stay inside the top five. At the checkered, Vega finished seventh in his first X30 Junior Final, recording a fast lap within seven hundredths of the quickest time in the race.

Qualifying on Sunday for the SpringNationals did not pan out as hoped with Vega putting in the 15th quickest lap of the session. The pace improved for the Prefinal, once again running lap times similar to the leaders while advancing up five spots to 10th. Royce started on the outside of row five for the 20-lap main event, keeping himself in the fight for the top five. He advanced late in the race, ending up sixth to be the second highest rookie in the order.

“Finishing inside the top 10 was a major goal to achieve in my first weekend competing in X30 Junior,” added Vega. “The Rolison Performance Group gave me a great kart on the weekend and can’t thank them enough for guiding me in my first time with them. I hope to be able to take what I have learned in my first race weekend and improve on that to be able to fight for podium finishes in my future races.”

Vega is set to rejoin Rolison Performance Group for the Superkarts! USA Pro Tour SummerNationals, heading to the New Castle Motorsports Park on July 25-27 but will make his Junior debut at the United States Pro Kart Series Wisconsin Grand Prix on June 27-29 at the Briggs & Stratton Motorplex at Road America. The next stop for Royce will be making his OK-N Junior debut, joining the Jay Howard Driver Development race team for the Stars Championship Series in New Castle, Indiana for the King of the Castle event on June 6-8.
