LaFayette Motorsports Park, LLC. is pleased to announce new ownership ahead of this upcoming race season. Current owner, Tony Goddard and his wife Tina who purchased the track in 2017 were looking to divest the track in an effort to have more time available in the summer to travel in their retirement.

Their son Matthew Goddard and close friend Aaron Hughes will purchase the LaFayette Motorsports Park LLC, including all assets with the deal expecting to close by the end of February. These lifelong friends went through grade school together, attended SUNY Plattsburgh as roommates and currently work together. Matthew Goddard is a very familiar face around LaFayette Motorsports Park having grown the business with his parents. He graduated SUNY Plattsburgh with a major in communications and minor in business. Matthew spent a couple of years after graduation traveling the country with kart race teams as a tuner supporting drivers with podium finishes in Las Vegas at SuperNationals and ROK the RIO. Matthew, an accomplished racer is his own right, has a number of championships to his name as well as narrowly missing winning a ticket to the Rotax Grand Finals.

Aaron Hughes with his strong work ethic fostered from his own father’s business success, brings his enthusiasm and drive to succeed. Aaron graduated from SUNY Plattsburgh with majors in business, marketing and a minor in accounting.

These two young entrepreneurs are excited to take LaFayette Motorsports Park to the next level. With new investment, they plan to build on the high level of work already completed at the track to increase the experience for both the current racers, and new people looking to get into the sport.

Matthew Goddard stated, “We plan to increase not only the length of the season opening as early in April as weather permits but also run into November too. We will be open more days in the week for both practice as well as for those wishing to take lessons and/or get into kart racing through our new Race Experience Program.”

While LaFayette Motorsports Park has very strong 2-cycle classes, in particular their KA100 class that typically approaches twenty class entries on a given race day. They plan to work aggressively to continue to build upon the 4-cycle classes that were gaining good momentum during the 2024 season.

Aaron Hughes commented, “Matt and I have already sourced and invested in twenty Honda powered Birelart karts that we will use as the basis for our new Race Experience Program. The Race Experience Program will be geared towards people wanting to try their hand at karting. The program will be focused on safety and instruction as a way to introduce kids starting as young as age five and adults into the sport.”

Under the new ownership, LaFayette Motorsports Park also plans to host race leagues utilizing the same Birelart karts where competitors will use one of LMP’s Birelart Honda powered race karts as well as provided safety gear.

LaFayette Motorsports Park was totally repaved in 2018 including all new concrete curbs. The addition of three hundred kart specific safety barriers as well as a digital marshaling light system makes LMP one of the most advanced and safe kart racing facilities in the Northeast.

Current owners and parents to Matthew, Tony and Tina Goddard, will provide close support in particular on race days throughout the 2025 season to ensure a smooth transition and top notch race experience to LMP’s current and future race family. “Over the past seven years of ownership, Tina, Matthew and I have worked hard at producing a high level of professionalism with timely and very smooth running race days. We pride ourselves on offering a family friendly yet competitive race experience where our race days are well organized and drama free,” commented Tony Goddard.

The LaFayette Motorsports Park located just south of Syracuse, NY is a 0.5 mile of reconfigurable asphalt road course track with the addition of a dirt track section for SuperMoto events. The largest road course configuration is made up of ten turns, six left (including the hairpin) and four right as well as a long straight away through the start/finish line uphill to the hairpin. The course has a series of underground drainage systems so that even on wet weather days, the course drains and dries quickly so as to limit the potential for rain delays or cancellation of races. The enlarged pit area is large enough to accommodate large race events also with the addition of RV parking. The hot grid area includes compressed air for filling of tires and/or air tanks. The facility is equipped with a clear PA system to announce upcoming heats and race results and includes a MyLaps computerized timing and scoring system with live feeds to mobile phones via Race Monitor and SpeedHive.
