Velocity Racing Becomes Official Race Team for Sodi Racing USA
Velocity Racing is pleased to announce it becomes the new official SODI team in the United States previously managed by The Karting Distribution, the exclusive importer of Sodi chassis in the USA.
After two perfectly successful launch seasons and numerous victories in all classes and in all major local and national championships, Sodi USA continues its development and is pleased to now work with Velocity Racing for even more successes.
“We had two very intense years with the launch of Sodi in the USA,” expressed Thierry Germanovitch, owner of The Karting Distribution. “The success of our chassis and our drivers was immediate, and I can only thank the work accomplished by Carlos Iaconelli’s team and Nelson Piquet Jr. Today, it is time for us to move forward again through the acquisition by Kris Kenific, the new owner of Velocity Racing. Kris has, like us, many ambitions, and his project is to develop the team and saw in SODI an opportunity for that. He is a successful and passionate businessman, and I have no doubt about our future successes with the goal of making Sodi USA by Velocity Racing the new reference in the market.”
“The takeover of the official Sodi team by Velocity Racing is effective immediately,” says Kris Kenific. “We are very happy to join the Sodi family, the world leader in karting, which, like us, has great ambitions for the coming years of competition. Velocity will build on the current team structure with Technical Director Ruben Carrapatoso (former CIK/FIA World Champion), and administrator and former driver Rick Rosin, and the entire current technical team that has already had a lot of success. We will further strengthen the team and invest massively to offer our drivers the best possible conditions for their success with the best chassis on the market.”
“Now in this new phase, I will take on a new position as the team’s technical director, helping Kris in directing the team, in developing both the chassis and the drivers. I see this as a new opportunity, passing on to them [drivers] some of my 30 years of experience in motorsport, including European Formula 3, A1GP, American Le Mans Series, with 10 years of career in Europe dedicated to professional karting, where I worked for the main kart manufacturers in the world,” said Ruben Carrapatoso. “The team’s project is that in the long term, we will use this knowledge for the team’s expansion to cars, helping the driver in the first steps in motorsport.”
“Motorsport has been in my life since I was 9 years old, it has been a passion since childhood. After several years behind the wheel in categories like F-3 and Mazda USA, Sodi USA and Piquet Sports gave me the opportunity to work and develop new drivers for the future. Today, with the acquisition by Velocity Racing, I believe we will have a very promising future, and many drivers will stand out internationally with our support,” said Rick Rosin.
Sodi USA by Velocity Racing will officially start this weekend in Indiana with the last round of the UPSKS, already preparing for the two must-see races in Las Vegas (ROK and SuperNats), which will be the next targets before starting the new 2025 season with even more ambition.
