Rock Island Grand Prix Sponsoring SKUSA SuperNationals 27 Scholarship Program
Club or regional driver to earn spot in Pro Shifter this November in Las Vegas
The Xtream Rock Island Grand Prix presented by The Hemp Doctor is set to provide an amazing opportunity for one fortunate karter. This year’s dismissal of the King of the Streets category due to lack of support from racers left one prize unclaimed from the Labor Day weekend street race. Simpson Motorsports – STL had stepped up to sponsor a free Superkarts! USA SuperNationals 27 entry to the winner of the King race – a prize package that was to include race fees, fuel, oil and race tires. The spot to the November 13-17 event at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway remains open and to address that availability, the Rock Island Grand Prix has created a new scholarship program, which will also include a one free entry and pit pass to the 2025 Rock Island Grand Prix.
“The idea is to help support a racer who may not have otherwise gone to the SKUSA SuperNationals,” stated Roger Ruthhart of the Rock Island Grand Prix. “Our event sponsor, Simpson Motorsports – STL, had arranged for the winner of our King of the Streets event to earn free entry to the SuperNats. Unfortunately, we were forced to cancel the class for this year’s event, however, he still wanted to award this entry. They also awarded a SuperNationals entry to the King of the Rock 100cc winner. This new RIGP Scholarship program will help give the gift for someone to race at their first SuperNationals.”
The Rock Island Grand Prix Scholarship program presented by Simpson Motorsports – STL is asking karters from across the USA to submit their name and information into the program. Requirements for the program are the karter must NOT have raced at the SKUSA SuperNationals or the SKUSA Pro Tour prior. The racer must have raced at the club and/or regional in shifterkart competition this year (proof of results required).
Those interested are asked to fill out a form to secure your entry into the selection process.
email newsdesk@ekartingnews.com if you are having issues with the form.
The next step will be to publish a short video about who you are, where you race, and why you want to represent the Rock Island Grand Prix at the SKUSA SuperNationals 27. This video must be published to Instagram (tagging RIGP and SKUSA).
Once those two steps are completed, a committee will select the winner of the 2024 Rock Island Grand Prix Scholarship program.
The racer selected will be awarded race entry, fuel, oil, race tires to the SKUSA SuperNationals 27 in Las Vegas – valued at $1,735 (racer responsible for travel, pit space, and other fees).
Also part of the RIGP Scholarship is a special Rock Island Grand Prix graphic kit. Designed and produced by DB Motorsports, the graphic kit will have the driver stand out throughout the week in Vegas, carrying the colors and branding of the Labor Day weekend street race.
Those interested have until midnight EDT on Wednesday, September 18 to submit their form and publish their video. The selection for the Rock Island Grand Prix Scholarship winner will be announced on September 24.
