The 2024 Superkarts! Pro Tour is set to conclude this weekend – July 26-28 – with the 10th straight year of the SKUSA SummerNationals running at the New Castle Motorsports Park. The New Castle, Indiana facility will welcome over 220 entries in the eight categories.

The SKUSA SummerNationals is the third led of the 2024 SKUSA Pro Tour after the WinterNationals in Orlando and the SpringNationals visiting Ohio for the first time in series history. The new SKUSA Pro Show with Pro Shifter and Pro X30 divisions will conduct the third and final round of their championship chases. Both categories run the full Friday practice before Saturday’s action of warm-up, qualifying and Super Pole sessions to line them up for two heat races on the day. The title chase will be decided with the main event on Sunday. The Semi-Pro divisions will be contesting the fifth and sixth rounds of their championships. Saturday is warm-up, qualifying, Prefinal and Final with a repeat on Sunday for the sixth and final round of the 2024 season.

New for the 2024 SKUSA Pro Tour SummerNationals is an addition to the ‘Backwards’ layout that will be utilized this weekend. The 1-mile course will include the Monza section between the I-70 corner and the Scoreboard turn.

The PSL Karting Pro Shifter championship is down to two drivers with former FIA Karting World Champion Mathues Morgatto (PSL / Birel ART) and former SKUSA champ AJ Myers (Magik Kart USA). Morgatto’s two wins over the first two rounds has him leading the championship by 63.5 points. Last year’s #3 in the standings Jacob Gulick (GFC Karting) sits third, needing help to have a chance at the top of the championship podium. Myers won both main events last year with Morgatto making his Pro Shifter debut at New Castle. Also making his debut is Danny Formal as the four-time SuperNationals winner makes his first start with Sodi Racing USA after leaving Rolison Performance Group in June. Holding down the fort at RPG is defending series champion Marijn Kremers, who recorded a DNF in Orlando and did not race in Ohio. Among the other wildcards include EKN Driver Rankings presented by Skip Barber Racing School #1 Kyle Wick (GFC Karting) and Estonian Markus Kajak (Maranello USA), making his SKUSA Pro Tour debut, coming in as a former SuperNationals podium finisher.

The chase in the Speed Concepts Racing Pro X30 division includes five drivers and could finish like we saw last year in Pro Shifter with four drivers within seven points. Diego Ramos (PSL / Birel ART) currently leads the championship off two runner-up results, holding a 46-point advantage over Hayden Jones (RPG / Kosmic). Pauly Massimino (BJR / LN Racing Kart) is third with Brandon Carr (Trinity / Kart Republic) in fourth. The only driver in the chase to have a victory is five-time SKUSA Pro Tour champion Ryan Norberg (RPG / Kosmic). Victory in Orlando was followed by a DNF in Ohio, leaving him 97.5 points out of the championship lead in fifth place. All five have different scenarios going into the weekend to what they need in order to finish Sunday at the top of the championship podium. Alessandro de Tullio (Inter MS / Kart Republic) is still mathematically in the hunt, needing a lot of help in the 22-driver field.

Three drivers are within 52 points of each other in the Sodi Racing USA KA100 Senior championship standings. Two-time race winner Finnegan Bayliff (Trinity / Kart Republic) holds a 37-point advantage ahead of James Overbeck (BJR / LN Racing Kart) with Round Four victor Steven Miller (Nash / EOS) sitting third. Overbeck has three podium results, but the one of the three without a victory. Connor Ferris (TFR / Kart Republic) and Henry Wheeler (PSL / Birel ART) sit fourth and fifth, both looking to move up in the standings with their first SKUSA Pro Tour victories. The rest of the 36-driver field will be fighting for the top step of the podium each day, including Josh Campbell (BJR / LN Racing Kart) and Jake Drew (FW / GFC) making their 2024 debuts.

The tightest championship chase belongs to the Rolison Performance Group X30 Junior division. Only 22 points separate championship leader Jackson Wolny (Kart Republic) and new Speed Concepts Racing teammate Diego Ardiles (CS55). Wolny won his first SKUSA Pro Tour race in Ohio while Ardiles swept the wins in Orlando. Fellow teammate Sarah Bradley (Sodi Kart). Round Four winner Turner Brown (RPG / Kosmic) sits fourth, holding two DNF finishes from Orlando and needing help in New Castle.

Nash Motorsportz KA100 Junior class will be the largest category of the event at 43 drivers. Leading the way in the championship chase is Diego Ardiles (SCR / CS55), who won once at Orlando and MCC. His advantage in the standings is 125 points over Turner Brown (RPG / Kosmic), who won Round Four. Round One victor Enzo Vidmontiene (Trinity / Kart Republic) sits third, 159 points back. Ty Fisher (Racelab / TB Kart) and Jackson Wolny (SCR / Kart Republic) are more than 200 points back.

Things are closer than they look in the fight for the Fury Motorsport / GP USA Master Shifter title. Bermuda driver Scott ‘Skitchy’ Barnes holds a 101-point gap over Maranello USA teammate Joe Ruch. A lesser drop for Ruch along with his two wins puts him closer to Barnes, who only has one victory thus far. Michael Guasch (Maranello USA) and defending series champion Luis A. Quinones (Factory Karts) sit third and fourth. Add in the return of SummerNationals winner Justin Kelly (Maranello USA) along with the class debuts for Tim Hollowell (Chacko / TB Kart) and Kyle Yuchinski (TB Kart South).

The top-five in the Trinity Karting Group Mini Swift class championship are within 200 points. Leading the way is two-time SpringNationals winner Ashton Woon (Supertune / Parolin) leads by 85 points over Round Two winner Royce Vega. His Team Benik teammate Troy Ferguson is third with Trinity Karting Group duo of Josh Bergman and Rocco Simone round out the top-five heading into New Castle.

One title that is nearly wrapped up is the JNM Racing Micro Swift championship. Three-time race winner Zayne Burgess (Sodi Racing USA) holds a 281-points lead over Round Two winner Santiago Orioli (MPG / Kart Republic). A DNF in Round Four would be Orioli’s drop race, and will need to beat Burgess in every session in order to have a chance at the crown. Wynn Godschalk (Team Benik) and Sterling Mulata (Team Benik) are third and fourth in the standings, and will be fighting for the final step on the championship podium.
