The 2024 Superkarts! USA Pro Tour resumes this weekend as the 15th season of the organization’s premier championship program heads to the Motorsports Country Club of Cincinnati. The Batavia, Ohio facility will host SKUSA for the first time ever with the 2024 version of the SpringNationals will be contested on June 14-16.

The WinterNationals in March at the Orlando Kart Center in Florida ushered in a new era for the SKUSA Pro Tour. The new ‘Pro Show’ made its debut with the Pro Shifter and Pro X30 division featuring a new format. It will continue at MCC with both categories running the full practice day on Friday with the ‘Semi-Pro’ categories. They will then run a warm-up, qualifying, and two heat races instead of a Prefinal on Saturday. This was done in an effort to provide the drivers with more track time, but also to help space out the schedule for the ‘Semi-Pro’ classes. Sunday will be a warm-up and Final event for the Pro Show. The ‘Semi-Pro’ divisions will be contesting Round Three on Saturday and Round Four on Sunday – including warm-up, qualifying, Prefinal and Final formats.

The championship chase in the PSL Karting Pro Shifter division is taking a turn heading into the SpringNationals with the absence of Danny Formal (RPG / Kosmic). The championship leader is committed to his sportscar schedule and will be unable to compete in Ohio. This hands the championship lead to WinterNationals winner Matheus Morgatto with PSL / Birel ART teammate Jay Urwin now sitting second. GFC Karting driver Jacob Gulick is now a close third with former SKUSA Pro Tour champion AJ Myers (Magik Kart USA) 61 points back in fourth. Last year’s champion Marijn Kremers (RPG / Kosmic) will also not be competing, instead, driver coaching for the team. The runner-up to Kremers in 2023 – Kyle Wick (GFC Karting) – is heading into the weekend for redemption after a mechanical failure put him on the sidelines early. Some of the wild cards on the weekend include Gavin Bayliff (Trinity / Kart Republic) – competing at his home track and four-time SKUSA SuperNationals winner Billy Musgrave (Factory Karts). Making their SKUSA debut this year is Canadian Remo Ruscitti (CDD / Italkart) and Aussie Sam Dicker (Trinity / Kart Republic).

The bullseye remains the #2 plate in the Speed Concepts Racing Pro X30 class, carried by Ryan Norberg. The RPG / Kosmic driver put in a winning performance at his home track in Orlando and now travels to Ohio, seeking his first ever win at the facility. He leads teammate Hayden Jones by 45 points in the championship chase with Diego Ramos (PSL / Birel ART) a close third. Pauly Massimino (BJR / LN Racing Kart) carries some momentum into the weekend with win at Stars Championship Series in OK-N and USPKS in KA. British driver Brandon Carr (Trinity / Kart Republic) heads to his team’s home track, sitting 90 points out of first in the standings. The driver not to win yet this year but among the quickest every weekend is Austin Garrison (SCR / Gillard). Garrison looks to be a spoiler on the weekend along with last year’s USPKS MCC winner Harley Keeble (Sodi Racing USA), Alessandro de Tullio (Inter MS / Kart Republic), Stars OK-N winner Nicholas Terlecki (HDD / OTK) and former Rotax Grand Finals winner Oliver Hodgson (CompKart) making his 2024 SKUSA debut.

There is no question the Sodi Racing USA KA100 Senior championship could go down to the wire. After two rounds, Finnegan Bayliff and Peyton Phillips enjoyed their first SKUSA Pro Tour victories at the WinterNationals. Bayliff (Trinity / Kart Republic) left Orlando as the championship leader, heading to his home race track. Phillips is moving teams, joining CompKart for the weekend and comes in sitting fourth in the championship behind Connor Ferris (TFR / Kart Republic) and James Overbeck (BJR / Tony Kart). Henry Wheeler (PSL / Birel ART) and privateer Eli Warren (OTK) are among the regional drivers with experience at MCC. Stephen Eisert (Sodi Racing USA), Steven Miller (Nash / EOS), Fernando Luque (Supertune / Tony Kart) and Keagan Kaminski (FW / GFC) are among the potential contenders on the weekend.

Two wins in Orlando at the WinterNationals has Diego Ardiles in the driver’s seat of the Rolison Performance Group X30 Junior championship. Ardiles (RPG / Kosmic) holds a 115-point advantage in the standings heading into Ohio with Jackson Wolny (SCR / CS55) sitting second. Teammate Sarah Bradley is third in the points after each driver stood on the podium once. Also with one podium at the WinterNationals each are Victor de Alencar (RPG / Kosmic) and Chace Gassiot-Lee (Nash / Redspeed), sitting fourth and fifth in the standings. This weekend will be one of redemption for Turner Brown (RPG / Kosmic) – who suffered two DNF finishes in Orlando in the final corner both days. He sits 17th in the championship. Ty Fisher (Racelab / TB Kart), Max Weiland (Magik Kart USA) and EKN May Driver of the Month Enzo Vidmontiene (Trinity / Kart Republic) coming off a two win performance at the USPKS Carolina GP.

The two winners from the WinterNationals are showing the way in the Nash Motorsportz KA100 Junior championship standings. Enzo Vidmontiene (Trinity / Kart Republic) and Diego Ardiles (RPG / Kosmic) each won in Orlando and site 1-2 in the title chase. Vidmontiene leads by 30 points over Ardiles. Jackson Wolny (SCR / CS55) sits third ahead of Ty Fisher (Racelab / TB Kart) and Turner Brown (RPG / Kosmic). The largest field of the event with 41 drivers includes several conteners – Isaac Malcuit (Zanella / Kart Republic), Payton Westcott (RPG / Kosmic), Nico Sarphati (FW / GFC) and more.

The only class for the elder drivers on the weekend will be the Fury Motorsport / GP USA Master Shifter division. The KA100 Master class was not included on the weekend due to lack of pre-entries. The championship is skewed with the absence of drivers who contested Orlando. Round One winner Scott Barnes (Maranello USA) leads the championship standings, now holding a 104-point lead over Michael Guasch (Maranello USA) with the absence of Juan Pablo Rico and Luis Quinones. Joe Ruch (Maranello USA) is looking to bounce back from a DNF and having Round Two win taken away following a cut-track penalty, as is defending series champion Luis A. Quinones (Factory Karts). Wildcards on the weekend are Larry Pegram (Trinity / Magik Kart), former SKUSA Pro Tour champion John Crow (Factory Karts) and Mike Rivera (GFC Karting).

Trinity Karting Group Mini Swift is another category that will see the championship leader not competing at the SpringNationals. Alessandro Truchot (Parolin USA) gathered the most points at the WinterNationals without earning a victory in Orlando. This puts Round Two winner Royce Vega (Team Benik) now into the championship lead by 65 points over teammate Troy Ferguson with Rocco Simone (Trinity / Kart Republic) now third. Round One winner Lourenzo Varela (VBR / Sodi Kart) is within 100 points of Vega entering the weekend. Among those looking to put themselves back into the mix is Marco Sammut (BJR / LN Racing Kart), Josh Bergman (Trinity / Kart Republic), Ashton Woon (Supertune / Parolin), Nico Orbezo (RPG / Kosmic), and others.

All the drivers at the top of the championship chase will be at the SpringNationals for the JNM Racing Micro Swift class, featuring 26 drivers competing in Ohio. WinterNationals winners Zayne Burgess (Sodi Racing USA) and Santiago Orioli (MPG / Kart Republic) are sitting 1-2 going into the weekend. Lucca Beccerrill (Orsolon / Parolin) had a consistent weekend in Orlando to sit third with Wynn Godschalk (Team Benik) and Marina Brandao (Velocity / Praga) making up the top-five after two rounds in the title chase.
