VKA Super Nationals Set for June 13-15

Much of the attention on the sport of karting will be focused on the state of Ohio during the June 13-15 weekend. The Superkarts! USA Pro Tour SpringNationals will be making its debut at the Motorsports Country Club of Cincinnati in Batavia, OH while the historic Dart Kart Club hosts their annual Father’s Day weekend event at the newly repaved Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, OH. West of those facilities will be attention on karting’s past, with the annual Vintage Karting Association Super Nationals scheduled for June 13-15 at the New Castle Motorsports Park in New Castle, Indiana.

The event that began back in 2009 is one of the major vintage karting gatherings of the season, hosted by Jeff Brown. The three-day event from Thursday to Saturday begins with a welcome party inside the Racer’s Grill at New Castle. Friday and Saturday includes on-track action for the 24 different categories that spans the many different styles and brands of karts and engines, including rear-engine chassis and dual-engine karts. Last year’s event brought in over 200 entries.

Much of the event is about honor karting’s past, with special guests, former national champions and engine builders on hand to celebrate the sport. Special awards will be presented throughout the weekend along with kart show contest and karting hall of fame honors.

This year’s event will include another special celebration – the 60th year anniversary of the Margay brand and company that was founded in 1964. Margay’s Don Freber and his family will be in attendance with a special Margay class for single engine and dual engine karts over 30 years old added as part of the on-track program.

The Vintage Karting Association will be in action at the Motorsports Countr Club of Cincinnati for the VKA Spring Nationals on May 16-18. Following the Super Nationals at NCMP, the VKA Sprint Event is slated for July 18-20 at the newly repaved Concept Haulers Motor Speedway in Sheridan, Illinois.
