KZ Only

This weekend marks Superkarts! USA’s full move to KZ powerplants in their Pro Shifter category on the Pro Tour. The lone IAME 175 SSE driver from the WinterNationals – Factory Kart’s Billy Musgrave – has moved to the TM KZ engine and is working with Amr Sinada from SRP Engines. Until very recently, Sinada provided the power for AJ Myers and the Magik Kart USA operation. Additional SRP customers at the SpringNationals this weekend include Giorgio Carrera, Remo Ruscuitti, Mario Gil, and Michael Gausch. EKN spoke with Musgrave before the final practice session of the day and he said he’s thrilled to be working Amr, citing that it’s “the best engine I’ve ever driven”.

Dazzling Dutch Debut

Dutch driver and Sodi Kart factory pilot Senna Van Walstijn made a statement in his American karting debut during Happy Hour on Friday afternoon, topping the Pro Shifter category by three tenths over Hunter Pickett. He then timed his second to his Sodi Racing USA teammate Harley Keeble in the X30 Senior, back by just 0.034 seconds. Van Walstijn appears ready to challenge for race wins this weekend. The Sodi Kart factory KZ and OK driver, who is enjoying his first-ever trip to the United States. Sodi Racing USA has made a focused effort to grow roots for the brand here in the USA since announcing their intentions in January, and both their East and West Coast race teams – The Karting Collective and Piquet Sport – are at the SpringNats. The Sodi Racing contingent looks strong, with Keeble also topping the Happy Hour KA100 Senior session, as did Pashi Ali in his debut weekend on the Sodi in Micro Swift.
