Kicking off the start of a busy summer for karting, Team Koene USA will prepare for the next seven out of ten weeks of racing. Traveling to the United States Pro Kart Series this coming weekend in Shawano, Wisconsin before traveling overnight to Grand Junction, Colorado for the US Open program, the Indiana based squad is primed and ready to keep the momentum rolling.

“The 2015 season has been a good one for Team Koene USA,” explained Team Manager Mike Maurini. “We have been able to win races across the country with several engine platforms and will look to do the same in the coming weeks. Utilizing Rotax, Vortex and IAME, we have proven our success in multiple series all while continuing to grow and build a reputation for our brand.”

Looking two weeks down the road, Team Koene USA will enter eight drivers in the Round #2 of the US Open. Taking place at the Grand Junction Motor Speedway, Team Koene USA round one winners will be back in action with Ugo Ugochukwu in Micro Max, Payton Durrant in Mini Max and Trenton Estep in Junior Max. All three will be looking to repeat their success from the middle of May.

Joining the trio of race winners will be Sofia and Suleiman Zanfari in Rotax Micro and Mini Max respectively. Both Moroccan drivers were able to secure top-ten finishes at the inaugural event and will look to build upon these results. US Open of Dallas podium finisher Nicholas d’Orlando will join Durrant in the Mini Max class as he looks to rise two more steps up on the podium. Older brother Michael d’Orlando had a strong showing in Rotax Junior, but a disappointing DNF due to contact while running in the top-ten during the main event hindered any chances of a good result. D’Orlando, who is a multi-time race winner, will look to rebound in Colorado.

Rotax Senior front-runner Rinus Van Kalmthout will make the trek from The Netherlands back to the United States for round two. Competing and having success all over the world, Van Kalmthout hopes to improve on his fourth place finish in Dallas.

Before heading to Colorado, Team Koene USA will see action in USPKS competition with four competitors. Vortex Mini ROK current point leader and double race winner from round one in Mooresville, North Carolina, Nicholas d’Orlando will look to keep his win streak alive at the USA International Raceway. Ugochukwu will join d’Orlando in the Mini ROK division, as the duo is ready to work together and run at the front of the field.

Roman DeAngelis will pull double duty in Shawano, Wisconsin fresh off his top-five finish at the Eastern Canadian Karting Championship in Rotax Junior this past weekend. Competing in Leopard Junior and ROK Junior divisions, DeAngelis will look to return to the USPKS podium.

Michael d’Orlando will be back behind the wheel of an IAME Leopard powered Tony Kart as he will be joining DeAngelis in Leopard Junior. After a strong set of results during the opening round of the 2015 USPKS program in his first career TaG Junior event, d’Orlando will be gunning for the podium in Northern Wisconsin.

Maurini continued, “We will be competing in Wisconsin and then packing up Sunday afternoon. With the crew flying Monday to Colorado, the truck and trailer will travel all night to complete the twenty-hour drive. Setting up our paddock space Monday afternoon and doing final prep on Tuesday, Team Koene USA competitors will hit the track on Wednesday morning.”
