A busy month of January to say the least for Checkered Motorsports as they competed in the opener of the Florida Pro Kart Series (FPKS) and the Florida Winter Tour (FWT) Rok program. As many as seven karts represented the PCR colors in the Florida Winter Tour Rok program and five pilots in the Florida Pro Kart Series.  PCR has consistently been demonstrating there speed clinching poles, podiums, and fast times.

Team owner Csaba Bujdoso explained, “We’ve been very fortunate to have such great talent under our tent.  The team demonstrated their presence in Florida and we will continue to work with the goal to bring a fast, but yet fun environment back in karting.  Special thanks to Brian Seward in providing top quality engines and dedication with the team.”

PCR had a strong presence in the Iame Sr. class with Austin Jordan, Ryan Norberg, and AJ Myers.  The trio all powered by BBS X30 engines were dominant karts throughout the weekend.  Myers clinched a pole position on Saturday, but a DNF in the pre-final would leave the pilot to start 21st.  Myers would put a stellar drive coming from the back to finish second while setting fast lap.  Sunday Norberg and Jordan picked up the pace where Norberg finished fourth in the pre-final, but contact in turn 1 in the main event forced him to retire.  Jordan came across in seventh while Myers would set fast time once again in the main event crossing the line in third.

Iame Jr. Josh Holland made his first start with the team and quickly came accustom to his PCR Super Strillo chassis.  Hollands best finish came on Saturday’s final as the rookie finished in 11^th in his first start in an Iame package.  Zach Hancock battled on track incidents, but his best finish came on Sunday with a 13^th.

Open Shifters Myers was the solo driver representing the black and yellow colors.  Saturday Myers won in the pre-final, but came short in the main event with a second place finish.  Sunday the Florida driver was leading the event, until the track became damp in the middle of the race.  As the race continued he suffered a loose motor mount which forced him to retire early.

The Girard, Ohio based team had their biggest presence in the Florida Winter.  With seven total drivers, speed was demonstrated across the board.  Sasha Brun-Wibaux, Ryan Norberg, and Austin Jordan rounded out the Rok Sr. drivers under the tent. Norberg, a former Team USA driver, qualified third and fifth on Saturday and Sunday respectively.  Unfortunately, bad luck struck the 16 year old where motor issues forced the driver to retire early on Sunday.  Brun-Wibaux was quick throughout the weekend, but managed to pull only an 11^th place finish on Saturday.

In Rok Master Adam Petitt, Francois Brun-Wibaux and Janos Eiler had strong runs with their PCR Mxk8 karts.  Petitt had second place in the books, until contact in the last corner on Sunday would damage the kart and unable to continue.  Francois Brun-Wibaux pulled a solid third place finish on Saturday while Eiler ran as high as third, but pulled a solid seventh place finish while setting hit personal best lap times of the weekend.
