Saw some posts about this so thought I'd post what I've done recently.

I just fitted a clone to a Top Kart Cadet. Did have to bend the left seat mount over 1/2" but the max-torque clutch was able to fit the normal way on the shaft and it clears the right seat mount just fine. I had to machine a flat and holes for an inboard keyway on the 30mm axle. I used a BMI engine mount offset outwards by one hole.

I was trying to fit a clone to an 08 Intrepid Explorer with a large Ribtect and had to move the engine out by two holes on BMI mount to clear the seat - or move the seat 1" (!!). This meant I had to reverse the clutch to put the sprocket clear of the frame and third bearing. I actually decided to stop with this chassis as I bought a third older chassis instead (and put the Aixro back on the Intrepid).

So next up is to fit a clone to a 2006 Top Kart adult. Will post results.

Mike.

We have one on an Italkart Rapido. The motor cleared the seat strut with clutch installed with the clutch bell closest to the motor.

I just finished a mod to a older Top Kart 100cc chassis to be able to fit an inboard sprocket.

Anything that says "Emmick" will work just fine.

We have done the same mod to a couple karts a Tony and MBA for 4/ racing with great results. For those that are looking for something more bolt on Burris makes a really nice motormount with a jackshaft set up.

I've mounted one on Coyote narrow track sprint no problem. Also mounted one on a Birel 125 CIK shifter but the third axle bearing requires clutch to be mounted bell inwards.

Birel AM29 - EASY!
Margay 1.4 2-cycle kart - pain in the butt
Gold 4 cycle kart - bolt on and go
Gold 2 cycle kart - much work
Top Kart 28/30 - pretty easy
Edge (Margay) - very simple

Only the Margay and Gold were not worth the effort in the end. The rest have been running pretty well with no major issues outside of the wrong clutch springs and rather cheap mufflers.

What if you sawed the entire rear bar off and instead of making it angle you shaved it down to make it straight across the chassis?

Has anyone tried an idler sprocket to hold the slack chain over the crossbar behind the seat? I see this some on minibikes. Probably less drag than a jackshaft and should be less $'s.

I have a TrackMagic Dragon 80cc shifter kart I may try this on. Otherwise, looks like I will have to cut out the crossrail and have it welded back in straight with clearance for the chain. Smile

I have seen one that had an idler arm that was mounted to the motor mount, but he had nothing but problems with it. It would flex and throw the chain off all the time. With some more R&D it could probably be made to work.

Do you have to run the full length body on these karts? Or can you run the std CIK pods on them?

What classes r u running them in?
