I don't see it happening and will believe it when I see it.

Lyle, I think it's a done deal, as it's posted on the official F1 web site.

I hope they pull it off. I could see both the Indy Car series, and the ALMS running there in addition to F1.

They say there is going to be a purpose built track. Who's paying for that? Is that you Lyle?
Laughing

Sounds like it could be... you and all the other taxpayers in Texas!

Shoot Roger, I can't even afford to come see you. Don't know how they will get my two wooden nickles?

Private funding is what I am hearing.

Now the initial euphoria is over, there are serious doubts / questions being asked in the international press.
Have "Full Throttle Productions" ever run a project anywhere near this scale before ?
Where will the $300+m come from in a state that is billions in debt already ?
Most F1 events are loss makers for the organisers, so what is the motivation and business plan that makes this worthwhile for FTP or anyone planning to invest in it ?
Maybe Barmy Ecclescake will put his money where his mouth is for once since he is the only person likely to make money out of this. ( not holding my breath on that !)
I hope it can be made to happen, but it has a lot of similarities to USF1 !

According to Hellmund the land has been purchased and Tilke already has a design though no details on either. Additionally he says it's funded and some of the permitting is complete.

http://www.usatoday.com/sports/motor/2010-05-26-3619290455_x.htm

Cooper speculates a budget of US$200 mil but considering the price for the WA state 7/8 mile oval ISC wanted to build was US$355 mil that sounds a bit low. It wouldn't surprise me if Eccelstone was funding it or found someone to fund it.

Call me a skeptic but, .....
how long does it take to identify a suitable site, get all the necessary clearances , legal work, planning / design, environmental approvals etc etc for an 800 acre development .. in Texas ?
.... several months ??
Even assuming funding was available for land purchase, would you really start this process without a rock solid agreement with the F1 org ?
So we are lead to believe that Bernie had agreed this deal "several months" ago ? ..yet he has been actively encouraging proposals from various other potential locations up to this week ???
Someone is not telling the truth.

Lets be honest here, ask yourself if you had a spare $300m available to invest, would you consider funding another F1 race venue ?
