New to 4 cycle and totally clueless does the idle mixture adjustment have anything to do with acceleration from a dead stop and what are you trying to achieve when you adjust it ??

Charles , not wanting to get too deep on the subject , but the idle mixture screw is basically to smooth out the idle. In reality I usually idle the Briggs engines high to a point where the idle mixture is out of the loop. But that's me. The intermediate circuit ( the tapered needle in the throttle slide ) is essentially your "acceleration circuit" since the carb does not have an acceleration pump. A little on the rich side here goes a long way in aiding acceleration. See you on the 24th !!!! Bernie
