This weekend will mark the beginning of the new WSK North American Series by CKI. The organization is set to host the first round at the New Castle Motorsports Park. The race will be the first weekend of the six-weekend schedule set to span the United States.

eKartingNews.com will be Trackside for the event, beginning with a Preview set to be published Thursday. Track action begins Friday with a full day of practice and possibly some tape interviews. Racing begins Saturday and continues through Sunday. EKN will be posting updates here as the weekend progresses, including the results of each official on-track session.

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE!!

Sunny skies and warming temperatures greeted the drivers for the 1st Round of CKI's WSK North America Series at New Castle Motorsports Park. The NCMP and CKI staff have the facility fully prepared for a great racing weekend.

Returing National Champion Arie Ouimet is here to defend his crown in KF2. Arie will be challenged by Joel Miller, Phil DeLaO, Joey Wimsett, and a host of other as they prepare for the weekend events.

At the conclusion of today's on track activities CKI is pleased to be hosting a cookout for all of the competitors compliments of the Bob Bondrant School of High Performance Driving. During the dinner hour both CKI and Bondurant will be kicking the weekend off in grand style by announcing some exciting new programs.

Stay tuned for ongoing updates. Live audio along with timing and scoring will be available at CKI online- starting at 10am both Saturday and Sunday.

EKN Trackside Live: Friday, April 9, 2010

Good morning, race fans! The EKN team has now landed at the beautiful New Castle Motorsport Park for the opening round of the CKI/WSK North America series. As we begin this discussion thread and our online coverage, we made the decision to trim off all of the past posts that had been since we started the thread, getting back to the basics of covering the racing at hand.

The fields are relatively light for the series opener, but they feature so many of the top drivers who we've watched race nationally for the last several years. The Leopard Jr. class is particularly strong, and we expect great racing.

CKI is hosting a complimentary BBQ this evening, presented by the Bob Bondurant School of High Performance Driving. We have been told that CKI is also rolling out a new program focused on supporting young karters all over the country.

We've been asked about entry lists, but instead of posting them, we'll have the full results from the final two timed practice sessions this afternoon. Stay tuned for more coverage!

And Barbeque pertains to CKI racing at hand?--Don't Canadians believe in "Freedom of Speech" if it is not nasty, yet truthful? I understand Mike Burrell, Curt Paluzzi, Gregg Wright are on the premises--hopefully their questions will be answered--have Van Gilder, Rick Dresling arrived yet? from WKA? Any entries above the 38 pre-registered? Looking forward to seeing you Saturday afternoon. (hopefully, the fantastic community room tvs get Versus for Indy car coverage.)

Hi Linda,

The BBQ is part of the experience that CKI is striving to provide to their racers, so sure, it's part of the weekend discussion. In regards to entries, there are 56 drivers entered in the event. As for Mr. Dresang, the WKA president was here yesterday with VP Dan Stowell and Secretary Angelo Buffomante. I don't have any information as to the nature of their meeting with Phil DeLaO.

And you're correct about the NKN crew...I spoke with Mike and Curt before lunch, and I saw Greg milling around as well.
