Stripped cylinder head stud on KT100

Greetings all, I just stripped a cylinder head stud on a KT100, Is a Heli-coil a good choice or would another type of insert give better results? Thanks

The brass insert method is far superior to a heli coil. Either way you really need special tooling to get it in there straight. You can make a drill guide and a tap guide from a block of aluminum if you have a drill press to get the holes straight. Best to farm it out unless you're pretty good at that kinda' stuff.

A quick fix on raceday,,,,

Use a little steel wool and jb weld. tear a few threads off of the steel wool (use a fine wool, not coarse)and mix it with jb weld (mix the jb weld very "hot" its supposed to take 24 hours to cure. Turn the stud down to where its supposed to be and let it cure. Tourque the head a little light after it cures ( wait as long as possible). about 120 in/lbs rather than 140 in/lbs. It will get you through the day.
