I don't understand some of the tire wear issues that some people have brought up. Our Spec tire for the Florida Region Rotax Max Challenge has been the Vega Red. We have raced at Homestead, Naples, Jacksonville, Ocala and a Gainesville test track. At the end of a weekend long event (in some cases 3 days), we have still had enough rubber to go play for a few laps after the racing was done. Using 10-15 minute practice heats we get about almost 15-18 laps per heat. Each practice day yields about 3-4 heats for us amongst the SKUSA shifter guys schedule. Then we have (2) 10 lap heats and (1) 15 lap feature. So that means at most track we get between 85 and 150 laps depending on the scheduling.
Some of our track temperatures have even been way over 135 degrees.
I must say, I have seen a few of our competitiors go through a set and have chords at the end of the Feature though. But the drivers I have seen do that are not our front runners and when I have seen them in action they do a lot of barking the tires both in and out of the corners. The Vegas have been good to us and at $110 a set you have to like that.
just my pair of pennies...

Looking at the last ten days I would say the Max deserves it's own subsection.
47.3% of the messages in the 2-cycle sub section had subject lines dealing with the max. If you dig a little deeper the % goes up!
But, lets leave it like it is. Great way to get converts!!
FK has sold 64 motors since December!!

Bill,
Lynnwood Cycle Barn (SSC) has sold a lot too. But where are they? Certainly not at the track. I'm starting to think that people get all fired up about racing, then start to realize a certain "intimidation" factor once they have everything at home. Maybe the dealers should have a followup service to see how they're doing. Maybe the clubs could give a call too. |

| The tame journalist belonging to the importers here says they've sold most of their engines to people not intending to race, perhaps that's the case for you too? |

TKWS worked fine with the all 2-cycles covered under 1 post. I'm afraid that if there's a separate Rotax section, that less people will be exposed to Rotax and that will not help it to grow.
I've been leaning toward an HPV but I'm getting so bombarded by Rotax this and Rotax that that I'm starting to take a look at Rotax

| AHHH....one of the biggest problems of karting today is CUSTOMER SERVICE, or lack there of, the TRUE successful business's listen to there customers and there needs and wants. Food for thought. |

There should be a Rotax only forum. It's easy to configure UBB to do it, and if it fails, it's easy to get rid of it.
For EKN, there is no downside. For the Rotax racers, there is nothing but upside.

I think that's exactly what it is. I'm doing Rotax as a feeder to shifter, but I've met three people in this area (Seattle/Puget Sound metro area, same as Stephen's) that have Rotaxes and have no desire to race. The only regional and club races I've attended have been down in the Protland area, but according to folks there, and some people in Seattle, Rotax in the Northwest is pretty popular.

| FYI, I made a ROTAX ONLY section at my classified system, www.KartAds.Com, when the system was rebuilt this past spring. I think this class has great promise for the future. |

Mary Ann is right, the vast majority are buying them just to play with.
And I still say we shouldn't have a Max only sub section. Bad for business!!
