De-acceleration problem- RotaxMax

At a recent club race (Spanaway, WA), I had a weird problem. After hard acceleration, I went into a lefthand turn. I let up on the throttle, but the rev's stayed up! It made that corner rather exciting! It didn't happen consistantly, but enough to make me wonder. Nothing seemed to be physically amiss. Hmmmmmm?????

I've never had that problem, but I know Chris Carmody had a throttle sticking problem in the Rotax class at the 'Stars' event in Norman, OK a few weeks back.

If Andy or Doug are lurking, maybe they can tell us what the problem was so you can investigate it on your kart.

I think that Rob Hogenmiller from nationalkarting.com was also having the same problem. Send him an email... He always gets back pretty quick.

If you don't have the throttle adjusted properly, the slide has a tendency to overpull and get hung up at the top. This is a "common" (take that word as you like) problem.

Yes the slide can get caught, as can the needle. However, this was not the problem I was having.

For me it would just start to rev by itself. It felt like a stuck throttle on the track, but if you let it sit on the stand long enough running it would just start revving out all by itself. See if it does it on the stand. If it does it on the stand it could very well be.....

a hairline crack on the intake system(the reed block). My Australian source tells me that they are very hard to locate, but if it isn't the slide this very well could be the problem.

If your able to find one please let me know as I rent motors and haven't rented the same motor again, but I'm sure I will. I haven't had the chance to inspect that motor for that problem yet because I learned what the problem more than likely was afterwards. I'm about 100% sure though that it was a cracked Reed Block because when we left the two bottom screws off the bottom of the intake SAME THING, but amplified.
