Hi, I currently race a Leopard and was thinking about switching to Stock Honda when I move to LA this June.

1. How often would I need to do a top end?
2. How much does a top end cost?
2. How often would I need to get the bottom end rebuilt?
4. How much does a bottom end rebuild cost?
5. How reliable are they compared to Leopard or Rotax FR125?
6. If they are "stock", is there any real advantage to buy from Swedetech or another engine builder?

Thanks in advance!

Rick

Rick

We replace our top end maybe 2 times a year, but we put alot of time on it. They sell for about $ 95.00. The bottom end can be done maybe every 1 to 1 1/2 seasons, they are real tuff. Around 500 to 600 to have rebuilt by a shop. Change the tranny fluide alot and you wont have problems. Buying a engine from a kart shop will ensure that you get a engine that is assembled the right way with the little things that can be done to make it just a bit faster. Plus the knowlege you can gain from a shop takes a long time to learn.

Thanks

Rick - We are making the switch from Rotax to stock moto this year as well. You'll find a lot of useful info at www.kartweb.com which will explain a lot about how the stock moto operates.

Also, as Steve suggested, don't be shy about talking to your local kart shop. They have a ton of experience and knowledge which will help you get into your new program in a way that's right for you and your budget.

Good luck!
Scott
