Of all the questions you had what fuel is the most important right now for you. 92 Octane gas isn't going to get it. 98 is safe but you can get away with a little less but not much.
The reason a kart takes more octane is load. A kart engine sees a huge load compared to the MX engine.
A stock engine with proper octane will never detonate. If you get the jet too lean it will simply melt. _________________ Thank You,

Reading this makes me miss the mountains of NC even more. Before we moved to Texas and raced karts we did quite a bit of MX riding including climbing long steep grades. There were a few trails with wide open throttle up steep grades with 2 minute bursts between letting off. Probably not many of those in Indiana, certainly none of them in the Dallas area either. I never had a problem running premo pump fuel in the bike and usually ran 32:1 oil. Of course I never bothered to jet it on the edge either so on some of the longer climbs it started to get a bit fat.
Hope you're doing well Todd. Oh and the mayor of Dallas called, wanted you to take your snow back to Indiana. We got about a foot yesterday. _________________ John Denman

Thanks for the clarification. Would a detonation counter be a worthwhile investment, & if so do you know of one that can interface w/ a Mychron 4? |
If you decide to get a detonation counter, Epic makes this one:

Mychron makes a Lambda sensor that interfaces with any Mychron 4, if you decide to go that direction.
Both are about $400. _________________ Idiocy is the new smartness: Or How I learned to stop thinking and love the Cloward/Piven Strategy. |
