Guys,

The Lounge is gone and is not returning. The complete section will soon be deleted off the board. As stated in the announcement, EKN's goal is to promote karting in a positive manner. With that in mind, it was time to move on without the Lounge section of the forums.

DC : Thanks for being so Politically correct . I am guessing that most on here do not agree with your thinking. Yet you do have every right to do so .Now having said that It would have been nice of You and Rob to have further explained the What , Where , Who , How , and When of the lounge being closed CENSORSHIP is a VERY BAD IDEA. Good luck with your Karting Endeavors. and Political Correctness Embarassed

I must have missed something. I have reread this.
Quote:
EKN Members,

We enjoy that many of you use the EKN forums to express your political opinions with the most important Presidential election coming in November. However, many of you have taken it apon yourselves to post discriminating words/pictures that are not needed at this site. We have no issues if you care to express or argue your viewpoints but we would like everyone to keep it clean and respectful. If you have any questions or you feel someone is abusing their posting privileges, please send your email to news@ekartingnews.com. Thank you for your time.

It says We enjoy that many of you use the EKN forums.........
It also says you are welcome to express or "argue" your viewpoints. just keep it clean. I may have missed something but I'm not sure what violated that. I think instances of crossing the line should have resulted in members having thier privledges revoked (as it has before). Instead of a mass firing.

I've been thinking about some of the great attributes to this forum. I've seen people bring problems to it ranging from trailer repair, home repair, child rearing, generator maintenance, legal trouble, pet care. If you have a problem, someone in this forum can fix it. You may not consider all of them karting or motorsports related, but many like trailers and generators are. And if a karter can save a buck on a plumbing problem, that saves our disposable income to race with.
IMHO it would be a shame to lose those resources in the karting community.

I know the lounge brought a lot of traffic to your site and there were more lurkers then posters. By my count it was the second most popular forum.
I respect your decision to run your site the way you want. I hope you consider the good it does and deal with the bad in a more focused manner.
Respectfully,
Curt Smock

I'm glad it's gone. It was really just a wast of time.

MIKE : then why read it if it wastes your time ? There are/were some who found it informative ,got different perspectives on issues and actually looked forward to checking it daily along with other topics . Over-all I think it will be detrimental to EKN .One has to ask themselves why we are here ? the common Denominator is Karting ,What don't you get about that ? How long was the LOUNGE on the AIR ?10 years plus ? Perhaps the MODERATORS were NOT doing their job. I do believe that when-ever we can we should support the sponsors on EKN that make this a Viable endeavor for Rob and Crew .However just because a sponsor gets Mgmt's Panties in a wad is no reason to delete the lounge .Seems like EKN did OK with the lounge on herethe past 10 years .Why change it now?

I'm thinking it just was becoming too hateful and divisive. Every thread was becoming a "I hate Obama and you" thread. Nobody loved the lounge more than me but it was like watching your kid go from All Star to a thieving drug addict. You want it to get better but it never does until it hits rock bottom and even then there's no assurance that things will get better.

Tom J : Perhaps if we had a real president with a backbone that showed leadership skills to us and was not a Liar we would NOT be having this conversation Twisted Evil Still waiting from DC or Rob for a better explanation.

First I didn't say it wasted my time as there were actually weeks were I didn't read it. But it completely wasted your time for sure.

See you just want to start another pissing match already. And if you couldn't tell that most of my comments were made in jest because I thought that most of the arguments were stupid then blow me.

See I did it again. I hope they shut down this tread today mother effers.

Bob, did you ever consider that you might be part of the problem? I don't think Rob or Dave owe us anything. This it their site, they can do what they want. Bottom line. They got by before us and they will get by after us. We could drop off the planet and EKN will still survive.

The fact that you guys can't seem to come together even now proves exactly why there's no point in trying to bring the lounge back.

Mikey G. for Prez!

Still trying to figure out what "tangible behavioral expectations" means. I'm not sure I would want the Lounge back if I had to abide by a set of "tangible behavioral expectations."

Let the Sandman take the Lounge quietly into the night.

+1

It's Rob's game. If he doesn't like the way some were playing the game, he has every right to end the game and take his ball home.

There were some good, thoughtful discussions in the Lounge, but there was also a lot of petty, hateful stuff and trolling. For those on either the left or the right to blame the other is hypocritical - you were all guilty at one time or another.
