A very funny idea, Joe.
Closing the Lounge will save many of us hours of surfing EKN; that's fortunate or unfortunate, however you want to look at it.

Seriously, I will miss the educational aspect of the Lounge. I learned a lot and to all those contributors, no matter which political leaning or ideology, I thank you. _________________ Richard

Okay, who would be willing to moderate their behavior if EKN brought the lounge back? _________________ A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on. -- Winston Churchill. |

Why does this not surprise me? It means to think before you speak.

Before there is any discussion of moderating behavior, it should be determined if reestablishing the Lounge is even on the table. If it isn't, then there is not much use discussing it. If it is, then the discussion should center around tangible behavioral expectations - for the entire site, not just the Lounge. Questions to tangible behavioral expectations: What is considered a slur or a derogatory remark? Where is that line? Is it permissible to call someone a jerk, but not a scumbag? Is it permissible to call someone morally bankrupt, but not slutty? Is it permissible to use the President's middle name to emphasize his heritage, but not call him Obammy? BTW, these words have all been used on the site. Some frequently and some even recently. If the behavioral expectations are not clearly defined, reestablishing the Lounge is doomed to failure. _________________ Idiocy is the new smartness: Or How I learned to stop thinking and love the Cloward/Piven Strategy.
