Of the 3 remaining teams
Campos, USF1 & Stefan GP
Stefan GP has the best chance, a raceable car (Toyota F1), complete and ready to go.
Their website says they are schedule to test this weekend in Portugal.
Keep the name USF1

The Portugal test was cancelled ....no tires and no chance of getting any !
http://www.pitpass.com/fes_php/pitpass_news_item.php?fes_art_id=39981
note also that USF1 has lost another major sponsor ..Locstein.
Nice idea for the two teams to join up, but i doubt that will happen as the Stephan outfit are primarily funded by the Serbian government who will want to maintain a National identity.
As i said earlier, i would hate the Stephan team to get on the grid this year. They have bypassed all the entry requirements and cue-jumped several other viable team entry's. (typical eastern European approach to sport !) _________________ Chad

There's probably a few people that know me well enough to remember that one of my examples demonstrating the decline of American manufacturing is that it's now impossible to buy an American-made toaster. Apparently, that may change.
USF1 - we're going to miss you. |

Good riddance USF1!
There wasn't much that was American about them. Are Ken Anderson or Peter Windsor American? They rented a space in N.C., that's it.
They had an ill-conceived plan & sold that plan to American racing fans & even worse, their employees. They asked employees to align their careers with USF1, but as questions were asked they couldn't produce answers or tangible evidence that they were progressing with their plan. They provided a young driver with false hopes & dreams. I hope that the driver can collect a sum for the contract that couldn't be fulfilled. |

Stefan GP's last website posting:

StefanGP would like to inform the public that the containers we sent on the beginning of February arrived in Bahrain. In the corner of the page you will see official check from DHL and the confirmation that freight arrived. During next week we will show our Stefan Formula 1 car to the press as the final evidence that should put us on the grid in Bahrain.
If case we don’t receive the chance to compete in Bahrain, and also when some of the teams fail to show up, somebody should be in a trouble explaining what is happen to all of us.
And dreamers from USA will have to explain their actions, because they are deliberately weakening F1 with dreaming of perfect world and fairytales about success. And success doesn’t come by talking but with hard work and lot of guts. _________________ The wheel is turning and you can't slow down,

I guess if you decide to buy an existing outfit, then those who are working to develop one from the ground up can be seen as "dreamers" but I don't see a lot of hard work and guts factoring into buying a team. Unless, they mean negotiating with Toyota when Toyota have a lot of more pressing things to deal with at this time.
Who needs to explain anything to these guys? Do they think that by buying a team they're entitled to a spot whether they put their money up front before the due date or not?
Maybe both will get a spot and USF1 can hire Nelson Piquet Jr.
This will be fun no matter how it plays out. An east European crew trying to intimidate Bernie and company. If they were Asian, maybe.
And, if they really want a spot they could try playing by the same rules Campos, USF1 and others have to play by. Didn't get the car ready in time? Too bad. |

| Speed reported that usf1 wants to delay until 2011 and will pay for the privilege. Read into that what you want. |

Brian: Which would lead to the following : PAY WHO? HOW MUCH? FOR WHAT? Perhaps they need to get some advice from one of FLAVIO's MGMT Companies At this point If you were a CEO would YOU consider dropping a few million into that operation ? I would think not. Perhap[s there is a chance that they COULD get a kart Road Racing program off the ground ,While they are waiting for 2011 to roll around _________________ Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways totally worn out, shouting, "Holy **** what a ride!!!". |

Brian ; I have always been curious about F-1 in relationship to Purse $
I have seen posted NASCAR ,INDY, IMSA ,and Grand-AM ,But I have never heard or seen a Purse structure for F-1 . Is that accessable or is it one of Uncle Bernies DEEP DARK SECRETS _________________ Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways totally worn out, shouting, "Holy **** what a ride!!!". |

| I'm not close to the f1 game so everything I have is hearsay. That having been said, I've read that monies are given to the teams based upon standings over the table plus whatever Max or Bernie give them under the table. I've never heard of a set amount. I gather its currently structured like the NFL where only certain teams can run, and the whole pot of money is divvied up as seen fit by the players. Rumor was that max made sure all the clubs that voted to keep him on got some of the Mclaren penalty money. Again, rumor I read. Who knows? I do hope they put on a good show this year, and don't have a runaway. |

When the Grand Prix came to Phoenix years ago (89 to 91) I was surprised to see where the purse for first place was only around $3500. At the time, a NASCAR race paid way more, like $50,000. That amount of prize money wouldn't even pay for plane tickets, a hotel room and a couple of good dinners - even then!
The money that people earn in F1 had/has to be appearance and TV money, now days all controlled by Bernie. And not the good Bernie we have, the evil short Bernie that has a lot more money. _________________ Benn Herr

If I was an F1 driver, I wouldn't care if there was a purse at all. My $50 million dollar salary would be enough for me. _________________ T.J. Koyen
