The "poison dwarf" doesnt seem to think so, and is trying to get the Ex Toyota team - now called Stefan - back on the grid instesd...
Quote:
Now Ecclestone has thrown his support behind Stefan GP and believes it could replace any team that fails to make the opening race.

"I do not believe in the participation of US F1 and Campos," he told German publication Sport Bild. "Instead, I have good contact with Stefan and am trying to get this team a starting place.
The Serbian team, owned by millionaire Zoran Stefanovic, is currently operating out of Toyota's old factory in Cologne, after striking a deal to take over development of the ex-F1 team's 2010 chassis and engine. It has already said it will test at the end of February and that it intends to send equipment to the first race in Bahrain to prove its credentials as a viable F1 outfit.

That little turd is nothing but political theater. A lot like watching Sarah Silverman - really, really annoying and just barely entertaining once in a rare while.

I won't be surprised if USF1 is late to the game. I will be truly surprised if they don't make it there at all. Their shop is really something...

Their shop is something, but it needs to turn out some parts.

I will be shocked to see it on the grid.

Even if they get it on the grid the 2 drivers they'll have won't do much for them. The 2nd driver is said to be Valles. Rookie team w/ 2 rookie drivers...not a good combo.

My question is why not get Bourdais? He's got F1 experience and a profile in the US...

Because they would have to pay him.

Reading that quote from that greasy weasel leads me to speculate he's trying to broker a deal to get the serb on the grid by having one of the two mentioned teams sell thier spot on the grid-with Bernie getting a piece of the action of course. That divorce cost for Bernie must be hellacious.

Exactly. As a rookie team it is key to have an quick, experienced driver, someone who can help develop the chassis.

I think USF1 will make it to the grid, and will likely be comparable to Virgin and Lotus in speed early on. I don't expect Campos to make it. Virgin and Lotus will pull away from USF1 as the season goes on, because even though their two experienced drivers are not very fast, they will help develop the car to some extent.

At this point, I'll be surprised to see USF1 or Campos (to bad for Senna) on the grid. If I were Stefan GP, I'd be out testing somewhere, as much as I could, before they are an official entry and are subject to the testing ban...

IF USF1 does make it to a race, I'd put my money on Glock, Trulli, or Kovallinen over Lopez or Valles. Glock and Kov are GP2 champs and Trulli and Kov are GP winners.

PS- Why didn't one of the new teams pick up the Toyota before Stefan GP??? Crap the car sat on had pole-position and I thin the buyer got the data to go with it... Confused Confused Confused

That would have been a good deal, however Toyota didn't pull the plug on their F1 team until way after the cut off date for new teams to submit their FIA application ,,including having a motor contract signed.
That is one reason why Stefan cannot race this year , unless they get special permission from the FIA.

PS: It has been reported that Stefan have already shipped containers of equipment to Bahrain ? Shocked
