Ty, its the same WKA Limited Modified class that has been around in sprint and ovals for years. This was the first real chance on the big tracks. We got down to 2.29's and 108 mph, very close to the fastest TaG times.
The engine is an Animal with a larger cam, and carb and it is ported. The engine we raced has been raced at Badger all season as were all the stock Animals we brought down. St Animals cost 1200-1300 dollars, limiteds around $1600 _________________ Bob Vehring

Not bad for a $1600. engine that lasts a year. I guess we can call them the cheap TaG's
Times will pick up some as we get more races in. Both Regan and Kevin had troubles at the end with the twin fuel tank set ups. 108 mph for a Briggs
I also was told 42 stock Animals, that was a big class |
Bob, can you tell me more about this limited class, engine tech, bodywork, tires, ect
will they have a class at CES? |
The engines are built to WKA spec #706 - Briggs & Stratton Animal Modified Engine. Depending on who's dyno you have it on, they are 18-20hp and run 8000-8800 rpms. Fastest I heard at Daytona was 108mph. We run them on several chassis, but mostly the 36" wide variety available from TS Racing, Bandit Racing, MGM, and a few others. Most run New Concepts bodywork, or a variation of one of those. Dunlop RH2's. _________________ Jamie Webb

Being new to Karting and currently trying to find a friend a shifter kart so he can compete with me I would have gone and probably seen several Karts for sale as I'm only an hour away. Kinda sour grapes I guess but thought it would have been a bigger deal. Oh well. Still looking for a shifter Kart in Florida though. TM or CR powered. |

Wow, those Briggs have come a long way, 2.29 is a hot lap.
They sure were awesome on the track and sounded great on the straights.
I can't ever remember being passed by one at 105mph before.... _________________ I spend my money on hunting, racing, women, and whiskey - the rest I waste. |

Greg, I'll take a guess, remember this is based on absolutely nothing other then me wandering around all 3 track. I didn't ask anyone
MC 575
RR 650
Dirt 325
I can tell you that because of all the asphalt and shelter from the stands, the RR pits were at least 20 degrees warmer then Dirt or MC on those cold mornings. _________________ Bob Vehring

Greg,
Mfg Cup Numbers:
I pulled all the qualifying results by name and dropped it into excel, then sorted. Now my number may off just a bit, but it should be real close.
Day One senior entries 104
Day One Jr entries 177
281 entries for day one combined
Day two senior entries 118
Day two Jr entries 156
274 entries for day two combined.
Total entries for the week end.. 555
I also sorted by drivers, because many entered two to four classes. Again sorted with excel and deleted dups.
Total drivers:
102 Seniors
120 Jr’s
So.. 222 drivers accounted or 555 entries..
Again this was grabbing the qualifying results for each class and sorting using excel. _________________ Frankie

You guys have tons of Jr's! That is great. A Road Race may get fewer than 5 sometimes. I had no idea that most of your entries were Jr's.

Frankie, and maybe Clark,
After Frankie's mathematical wizardry on the Man Cup event ie; 222 drivers equaled 555 entries I would like to see the same thing on the RoadRace side as well.
I wouldn't be surprised if there were more actual drivers at the roadrace event,
And Clark, yes I too am somewhat amazed that the Jrs outnumbered the Srs in the Man Cup event, I don't believe that was the case last year.
It would be interesting to see how the Jr count was impacted by multiple class entries compared to the Sr classes.
C'mon Frankie I challenge you, and I'm too lazy. _________________ Greg Wright

Jr's will always suck in enduros until they develop a Jr class for the 8-12 yo's
Even if an existing RR'ing parent wants to get his child started in karting, he has to spend 4 years in sprint or ovals first, until the child reaches 12. With that time and investment, there probably not coming back. That also makes the 12-15 groups suffer CES has made it work for years
PS, Greg, I can do that math for ya, I'll get back to you in a year _________________ Bob Vehring

Your killing me Greg…
Day one seniors… Had 89 drivers that accounted for 104 entries.
Day one Jr’s…… Had 120 drivers that accounted for 177 entries
Day two seniors… Had 95 drivers that accounted for 118 entries
Day two Jr’s …. Had 117 drivers that accounted for 156 entries..
By far there was more Jr’s entering multiple classes then the seniors. Some of the jr’s entered as many as four classes.
I was surprised that the number of Jr’s was higher then the seniors also. There were 18 more jr drivers then senior drivers entered at the event.
Is that what your looking for? _________________ Frankie
