| In spite of what the WKA or IKF mandate what is your thought on the full width rear bumpers. Our club is kicking this around right now and I'd like to educate myself. |

I have always run one and feel that it has saved me from having other karts hit me in the neck on several occasions.
I haven't found that I have been bumped or 'wrecked' any more than the other drivers with narrow bumpers.

We were disassembling and putting my son's kart away for the winter. He pointed to the outer edges of the wide (KG, plastic) bumper he ran this season. They were pretty well beat up. He said "I think I would've had a couple of flippers on my head without this bumper". I think he might be right. You can argue it both ways, but on balance, I think we're better off with them than without them. _________________ Roger S. Hargens

These bumpers make ALOT more sense than the neck collars. I haven't run one yet but I bet it would have save my $450 rad!

I've been pushed off twice from someone hitting the corner of my full width bumper. I also have a couple of tire marks where karts WOULD have gone over me, so I don't know what to say... _________________ Kyle Prokup Racing

My opinion is i would rather go back to what we had before. It seems to me that the only guy that loses is the guy in front. With open wheels in the back at least the kart doing the passing had to respect them.
We had a bad experiance with someone trying to pass us, when they spun us they got caught up, went over the bumper, sheared the plug off the top of our motor and ended up injuring my sons shoulder. Not to mention gouging the cylinder head and tearing up a fresh paint job on his helmet.
From watching it happen I think with a short bumper the passing driver would never had made that attempt......
I can think of another incedent when the full width rear bumpers caused karts to get on top of each other...enough for a red flag and few few guys getting medical attention......again watching several races at this track without them I know the bumpers caused the issue....this same group of drivers has started clean at this track several times......
And yes they make it WAY easier to pass someone.....which is what caused both of these incedents......
We have been in plenty of first lap "racing incedents" mid to rear pack over the last several years and I do NOT like these full width bumpers. |

No they dont, I was ran one for one weekend this year. Kid drove over the back of my kart and hit me in the back, leaving rubber marks on my suit and the motor.
Ill stick to the open wheel option, atleast that makes them think twice before drive so close to my bumper. |

Jason, maybe you should drive a faster kart or quit running with kids, I hear they're ruthless _________________ jlgracing
