Yeah, whats wrong with that? F1 does it.. | I've always believed that if you have your weight/ fuel usage so dialed in that a few marbles are the difference between under and overweight, you deserve a time bonus, not penalty. Same goes for the half liter of water from the bottle your tuner hands you. |

Just curious, but I see that Phil Arscott wasn't driving a Swiss Hutless. I know I am out of the loop on Rotax Max races, but is this because of strict World Final chassis regulations or was he just going with the hot hand? _________________ Bob Wilson

The EVR chassis Phil was using was my younger brothers Bryce Choquer who already qualified for the Worlds in Canada.
About three weeks ago Phil came up to test the chassis at CartBC, and he was fast so we decided to take it to Nationals. The Tony Kart's have been very strong and we felt this was the right choice.
As for driving in the marbles, you just never know if that extra rubber could make the difference. It never hurts to play it safe. We made sure Phil always came in over weight by more then 3-4 pounds. Most of the top guys do it. I think Wes Phillips is the guy who started it all. haha
Sincerely,
Blake Choquer

When was the Master's nomination to the USA team eliminated? I do not recall reading this in any announcements. _________________ Paul Montopoli

I just wanted to say thanks to Andy Seesman for sporting the 51RV in honor of Rich Vito who is still recovering from a serious head injury. It brought me back to ground zero where karting has it's roots. It's a people sport, and folks like Andy and all of his FTK gang are a class act.
Thanks again for everything FTK. We will see you this winter.

Yep, the point is, why not? It's one of the biggest races of the year, biggest maybe ever for some, so why not pick up rubber, it won't hurt. Of course, it probably does nothing material, but it won't hurt. _________________ Aluminos |

2007 was the last year the Masters class recieved the automatic spot on Americas' Team. In the rule book pg 16 the last paragraph. The slots awarded are for the DD2 Senior and Junior classes from Rotax. In past years, and again this year, we get 3 spots for Junior, Senior and 4 spots for DD2. We automatically award the top 3 spots in the 3 classes to the top 3 finishers. the 4th DD2 spot last year we awarded to Masters winner Marc Miller because of his dominant performance. This year we will announce the 10 US Team member this week. |

So the 'wild card' spot is given to a DD2 driver?
Also, one observation/comment from out here in the cheap seats....
Given the current economy and resulting (relatively) low turnout at the GN this year, do you think it would have been possible to not send 5 kids home in Jr Rotax class?
Would it have been possible to simply allow them to run at the back of the field for at least the pre-final (and have the black flag ready to remove them if the leaders were getting close)?
Yes, I know "it's the rules", but it just seemed like this may have been an opportunity to modify the rules a bit. |

At least every third DD2 competitor gets a spot (not counting Masters)! |

The wild card name was announced on Sat during the awards. It was a masters class driver. I don't think it's a secret. Way to go ANDY. _________________ If everything seems under control, you're just not going fast enough.....

OK,
I was not able to attend the ceremony as we were still disassembling everything. Andy was definatley one of the people on the list and very deserving. He has gone the last couple of years and helped the team so no one better to be a part of this years team. |

Congrats to Andy and all of the members of Team America. Make us proud over there.
I just wanted to say thank you to everyone involved this past week. Everyone from Rotax worked hard to bring this event to Oklahoma and make it a success. To the Berryhills for all of the hard work they continue to put into the sport, and the support they give to the racers, and the sactioning bodies, and to everyone who came out and worked all week in the rain. Without them, this week would have been alot harder on all involved.
Thank you to the Rotax crew for inviting me to be a part of the brodcast, I enjoyed every minute of it. I just hope that I wasn't too much of a hack. _________________ Shut up and Drive !!!!

does anyone know if there is an archive of the webcast?
I'd REALLY like to see the races I missed while busy at the event. _________________ Straightaways are for fast karts, corners are for fast drivers.... |
