Check this out http://picasaweb.google.com/burrisracing/BurrisRacingJackShaftKit?authkey=Gv1sRgCMKz_NiHreaHQg#
We have had a number of customers that have purchased older chassis to run in our F200 or Honda 4/ classes, we have been cutting and moving the rear cross bar forward for chain clearance. This looks to be a much more cost effective fix.

That is REALLY COOL.

I especially like the version that allows you to mount the clutch on the right side of the motor..much easier to remove and clean.

How much energy is lost using two chains?

That was my question, how much power does it rob? Nice, though, no matter what...

My guess is some but I would think with good bearings and chain it wouldn't be much at all. A chassis dyno would be the test running back to back.
Sure looks like it will save a lot of time and effort fitting a 4/ to some sprint chassis's though.

I'm looking forward to seeing some dyno comparisons. If it is only a tiny loss, I have to have a clutch end model! I can see some cool benefits...

easy access to clutch
less rotating mass on the crankshaft
for those of us that don't run a third bearing, it puts the sprocket closer to a bearing
don't need to bend seat struts on 2 cycle chassis
probably less chance of throwing a chain

I'd like to see pics of it on a 2 stroke chassis. The one in the pics looks like an Arrow 4 stroke.
I looked at my AX8 30/32 and even with the clutch outboard on the jackshaft and direct drive engine sprocket it looks like I'd need to perform surgery on my seat strut.

Would be nice not to have to run split sprockets anymore.

Shannon the extra drag is minimal once the chain and shaft bearings break in and a simple axle spin test shows that it takes about the same time to wind down with or without the jack shaft.

Paul, the CE type unit was designed primarily for Mini Sprints with the engine mounted on the left and adapting it to replace an engine clutch would not really be an advantage except you could use could use the same clutch for multiple engines.

Bob, the photos showing the Arrow 4 cycle chassis are for just to show the different mounting & output positions and all the 2 cycle chassis we mocked it up on fitted without any problems except the Arrow which had an interference issue with the rear side pod mount stub. We are working on a chassis plate to take care of that.

You can buy 35 solid sprockets. You then just cut one side. My brother-in-law showed this euro trick. Slides over the axle no problem. Works great and no 2p sprockets.

Mike
That is a sweet motor mount.
Do you think there will be one for racers to see and fondle at the 4 Cycle Grands.
Scribner was talking about getting one to show off to the masses.
This is a great item for those that want to get old 2 cycle chassis out on the track with any 4 cycle set up.
Great job.

Mike, I think Corey has one but if not I'll send a DE type up there to the Grands for you to check. I'll call him after while to see what the story is and go from there.

We ran it a couple of weeks ago on a Birel in a WKA regional sprint series and it worked great. Didn't really notice any drop off in power; after a couple of heat cycles on the bearings it seemed to spin as free before we had it.

I think this could be a good product to help "revive" 4cycle sprint racing. It at least opens up the chassis choices a bit...

Would this work on something like an Arrow X1 with a Briggs World Formula?

I am thinking of getting into karting next year. The Arrow chassis sounds interesting to me, and I'd like to start in something like World Formula. But I'd like the option to move into some type of 2-stroke at a later time.
