| HI was wondering if anybody uses a car to haul their kart? I think about getting a hatch back to haul it. |

Ford Excursion.
24' enclosed car hauler.
The kart fits in either one.
If you are looking at a vehicle (no trailer), you should measure the dimensions of the kart with the wheels/hubs off, sidepods off and front nose off (rear CIK bumper off as well if you're using one of these) and verify it will fit.
FWIW, I can fit the kart into the rear of the Ford Excursion(in an emergency) by removing these pieces.
A more "practical" solution would be a very small enclosed aluminum trailer (6-10') (which can be towed by a standard vehicle and would NOT require electric brakes).
Or perhaps a small folding open trailer.
I've seen both used at the local track. |

'00 Subaru Legacy station wagon (5-sp, awd, a/c)
Harbor Freight 8' open trailer, 2 pieces of plywood and some eyehooks.
If I had a roof rack I'd put it up there instead. I should've also looked on Craigslist for a small enclosed trailer.
Works fine for one kart, one driver, and up to four passengers, gets 30 to the gallon towing to events. _________________ "If you're still in full control, you're not going fast enough" - Fred Frame |

Last year I stuffed my kart in my 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee. But in an effort to reduce our debt load (and to be able to afford more kart stuff), I recently sold the Jeep and put a hitch on our '92 Mercedes 190.
I tow my kart behind it on a 4 x 6 open trailer. Since the kart is too wide to simply roll it in, I built a rack above it, and much of my gear fits nicely underneath the kart. I really like my set-up: light and inexpensive.
And my car is worth less than my kart. |

| 2006 Jeep Wrangler. With the rear seat folded and tumbled forward I can fit all of my gear and tools, and then I tow a 5x8 trailer (open) that my kart fits nicely in. Just not enough room for a kart stand. |

| A Rotax setup (sidepods and all) will roll into the bed of a Ford Superduty. |

Since I have 3 karts to transport to the track:
An 8 1/2 x 16 ft. TPD trailer, pulled by a 2004 Escalade.
The Escalade is having a hard time pulling a 6000 lb trailer, so once my Tahoe house sells, I'll be looking for a used diesel pusher RV and an F250 crew cab with a diesel in it. I could be waiting a while.... _________________ Play now, work later! |

Didn't one of the Bush brothers drive his kart to the track at Adams? _________________ Sex is like pizza. When it's good it's great and when it's bad, it's still pretty good. |

Somebody posted pictures of them using a Mk5 Jetta and just putting the kart in the trunk. I was impressed with that. It looked like it required lots of tear down though.
My buddy had a civic hatch that by removing the rear wheels and sidepods he could stuff the kart and all of his junk in the back. I'm not sure if he had to leave the hatch slightly open or not. I would think that he did.
Where there is a will there is a way. Or so I'm told.
For my racing we have a trailer that we tow with a Chevy Express. Pretty often however I toss my kart in the back of the van and go that way to practice sessions. No disassembly required, and Johnny Five appreciates that. _________________ http://www.Chrislivengood.net
