Yesterday, I ran my first local club race in gas stock Animal class. What a blast! We had 12 racers. In the two heats I found the first pack of 5 pull away from me out of the corners, leaving me in 6th spot, but pulling away from the group of 6 behind me. So, I went up a few teeth in the rear and hit the main event. I have only sprint raced once before, and the rolling start kept me on the cautious side, so the group of 5 pulled about 40 feet ahead of me by the second lap, while I pulled away from the 6 behind me... 1 of the front pack guys had problems, so I then found myself alone in 5th place in the main and 4th overall...

That is when I decided a very simple thing, if I want to catch these guys, I am going to have to drive faster, and I didn't want to race alone. So I did, and I reeled them in by finding a lot more confidence in the corners. So, 1st had pulled a bit of a gap, and then there was us, with me running at the pace! That was really cool, as I have been practicing, as well as tuning my chassis.

Then on lap 11 of 14, while trying to find a way around 3rd and 2nd place, my gas pedal stuck... I had to pull off... However, I was having a great race. I really like this class, and it is making me learn how to drive smoothly. We had side by side racing throughout the pack. I can't wait for next race. This time my gas pedal won't tighten up...

Way to go Paul! Sounds like you had a great time and did pretty darn well for your second race. Any chance of you coming down to Davis in a few weeks and race with the NFRA? The 4/26 race will be the second of the "crossover" races between Davis, Dixon, and Prairie City. Yesterday was the first Xover at Dixon and there were over 150 entries and I'd expect Davis will be about the same.

Oh and Thunderhill is coming up REAL soon. You still planning on making that race? Sounds like there should be 10-12 WFs there for that race BTW.

Hey Brad! I have been practicing once a week, and learning my chassis, so I keep getting faster... How did you do in your Briggs WF powered machine?

As far as Davis and T-Hill, finances will probably keep me from racing, but I'm thinking I'll go spectate T-Hill and help out. One nice thing about our local club is the $35 entry fee, and no transponder fee!! Still, Davis is closest of all the sprint tracks you run, so you never know...

Things went pretty well. Managed to eek out a win in the WF class. I could keep up with the F200s at least till the rev limiter kicked in. LOL Glad things are going will for you up in Redding. Still looking at getting a WF sometime this year?

Actually, it looks like I will make Davis with NFRA, as our next local race isn't til May 17... T-Hill will have to wait...
