This weekend marks the beginning of the 2009 season for the Snap-on Stars of Karting program as the Eastern Division opens up at the Ocala Gran Prix in Ocala, Florida. The event marks a new era for the series as it will be the first under new President Alan Rudolph and for the new revised class structure, including the KF2 and KF3 divisions.

eKartingNews.com will have complete coverage of the event, beginning with an event preview that will include the entry list for all seven divisions along with more announcements and updates to be made in the coming days.

My favorite male indy driver, Dan Weldon at Stars this weekend--wish I lived in Florida instead of toooo cold Iowa. Dan was awesome on his TopKart, prepared by Joey Hand's Kartell operation of California at the Las Vegas Super Nats in November. I wish him the best. I think that is soooooo cool to have an Indy driver participating in this Indy event. It will be a tough class--should be very exciting! Go Weldon!

Just checked out the TracksideLive page - I'm no technogeek and usually see technology as a necessry evil - but this is cool and looks like it has a lot of potential. Well done and good luck EKN TV.

Thanks Jim. Our goal is to provide an increased level of coverage this year while we focus on slow and steady improvements and evolution. I can't wait to see where we are by the time the SuperNationals and PRI All-Stars Karting Classic come around.

This weekend will be our first kick at the can on this deal, so please bear with us. Wink We'll try to keep the glitches to a minimum.

Thank John.

Johnny Johnson of Rising Star Motorsports is our new web developer and we will be working with him very closely this year, as we are planning a site re-design as well. Johnny did an amazing job with the program and I am looking forward to working with him this year.

EKN Trackside Live: Thursday Update

The paddock is beginning to fill up as all the major teams are now in position. The crews from MRP Motorsports, Kartel Motorsports, Tony Kart Florida, Ocala Gran Prix, SSC East, Franklin / Mike Doty Racing, DTR, BTK Motorsports, Cameron Motorsports, Italian Motors, Energy / Syar Motorsports and Maranello USA completed set-up last night.

The sun is shining, the skies are clear and the temps are already in the low 70s, with a beautiful weekend in the forecast. Thursday practice is underway and the drivers are taking their turns on-track, dialing in their set-ups. We've snapped off a bunch of photos and will be updating the gallery soon.

Collin,

We're getting the entry lists from Stars right now and David will be posting them ASAP. You'll be able to access them from the link on the Trackside Live page.
