Just think of all the money the club's and promoters will save only having to provide trophies like our club races. Heck, I have raced with one of the long track organizations and they ask on the entry form if you want a trophy if you place. Maybe we need to add that option, could save more money and keep mom and dad's house not quite so full of plastic. _________________ Bob Phillips

Why would a 5th place trophy at a club race?
When you start winning more those are the first ones you toss out for lack of space. _________________ Like a fat kid playing dodge ball. |

Our club uses the 30% rule on trophies and in the old days, we would reward down to fifth place. Our region has used 5 as a rule of thumb for many years. In some ways, it would be nice to know what the thought process was behind some of the decisions. _________________ Bob Phillips

If you could save 20.00 a class by 10 classes that 100.00 the club saves per weekend. Could be as much as 1k over the year. Thats alot of money to struggling kart clubs. _________________ Like a fat kid playing dodge ball. |

We are donating all of our trophies back to the club, except for the eagles.
Our club pays 12 bucks for a trophey and a pitt pass costs 10 bucks. What if you give a free pitt pass for the next race instead of a trophey, drivers option. The club makes 2 dollars per trophey denial. Sounds like a bargain. |

| i like it 1st-3rd, it makes you have to work that much harder to get a trophy, and its a true podium. |

| Brad is talking about the IKF Region 7 not the local club races. I think they should award 1st to 5th for Kid Karts, Cadets and Juniors. The kids love the recognition they get at the trophy presentation. |

one of the clubs here used to offer the option of an ounce of silver. trophys are something you have to dust or blow off with the air compressor. i think the silver costs the club or region less, i could be wrong. anyway we recycled our old trophys with the club. we were told it saves them $.

I like the IKF trophy program for 2009.
In the years past, I've always been stuck with buying trophies that are never picked up after an event, or I have trophies from classes with less than 5 entrants, and that add$$ up .
I may be biased..ok I am biased, But I really like what Tri-C karters is doing for trophies this year.
We're going by the IKF rule book to determine awards distribution, ie 1-3 entrants =1 award, 4-5 = 2, etc.. Why give out as many trophies as drivers? who did you beat?? (ok kid karts all get participation trophies)
The awards winners each race have the choice of taking a trophy or a $ Certificate.
The $ certificate is the value of what would be spent on a trophy. 1st =$30, 2nd =$25, etc...
The certificates can be used like cash at any club sponsor, thereby giving BACK to our sponsors by sending them customers or they can be used like cash towards future race entries, or any club merchandise. (The sponsors send us the certs and I pay them the full value)
Every award winner (1-5) also gets a plate with their finishing position and the date etc on it that can go on the trophy, or if they chose the certificate, they STILL have a momento of their finish. We have wooden plaques available for mounting of all the plates to so the recipients have ONE nice display piece and not a bunch or trophies.
As a person who pay bills for IKF region 7 races, the new trophy program will save me anywhere from $1,000 to $2,000 Per race, which in turn will save the competitor, as fees won't have to be increased to cover it.
Maybe that kind of program won't work in the region...then again, it's the same drivers getting trophy after trophy, so If it were me, I'd prefer the $$ Certificates and one wooden plaque with all my plates for the season over a bunch of plastic trophies that I end up giving back to the club after a few years. _________________ Straightaways are for fast karts, corners are for fast drivers.... |

| Most of you that agree that they should stay with the top 3 trophy rule are all drivers that have won multiple trophies. In most classes in Region 7 there are 20+ karts and the competitor that has a good day and gets into the top 5 for the first time at a Regional level its a big deal. |
