| Wan't there still a flip? I thought the bumper was supposed to prevent flipping. |

But since you weren't at the track and just listening you didn't see the number of times the bumpers stopped a flip.
Also remember the rear bumpers were still optional. As about half the fields using the full width bumpers.
South Bend is when the bumpers will be mandated.

| So your saying the bumpers stopped many flips, good. So your saying that many of you used the rear bumper as a deflection in situations where there should not have been contact at all? |

| I saw very few of the new bumper in the Sr. classes. Most opted to run the old syle bumper. There was a flip in the TaG consi race with the driver breaking a vertibrae in his back. Even though I am not at all a fan of the bumpers, they may have prevented this accident or at least the flip. |

| That sucks, I hate to hear that. Body protection is still not very good nor is it required. Even still, land the wrong way even something that looks minor can end up serious. I tried on my sons Armadillo once. Its really tough. It feels like you could take a hit with a bat anywhere and not get hurt. Didn't try that though. |

Tom,
Are you bored? Between this and fighting the Rotax, it seems like you have some sort of vendetta.....

It's really simple.
If you feel as though the (mandated) CIK rear impact protection system is unsafe, do not race.
Find another class, find another sanctioning body/series where the CIK system is not mandated. |

You bet I'm bored. I'm glued to the computer doing year end tax crap for 2 days. I'm knee deep in forms. WT-6, 1099, W3, W2's, W-7, 941, 940FUTA, SUTA ect. The forum is my entertainment. I had my meds last night. About 10 of them I'm good to go. I was just wondering how the bumpers worked out. I thought everyone had to run them. I'm almost done with the tax crap so I can lay off for a while. I'm done with the rotax too. Soon I may have one and become its greatest supporter |

We ran the new style KG plastic bumper in Tag and we were one of only a handful of people that had the full width bumpers. I took it off on monday night because I couldn't get any grip with it. We'll be running the steel bumper with ears, probably. TJ did get nailed from behind once when the whole field checked up on the pace lap. His fairing got destroyed but the rear bumper was fine. He thought it may have kept the guy behind him from climbing his back. TJ also said that the starts are pretty much you pushing the guy in front of you and the guy behind you pushing you, so he didn't mind having his rear tires covered. I didn't see anyone with a CIK system taken out from behind. We'll see how the rest of the year goes. The CRG version does seem to be one of the more durable (and costly) models. _________________ High Quality American Made kart stands. Available direct to you or through one of our many dealers.
