This was great event the tent with all the drivers was packed with spectators yes spectators at a kart race. They were also lined up 5 deep around the track and there were 6 grand stands full of people.
I had the privalage of hanging out with Tagliani Pappis and Almadinger all week these guys all put in a serious effort to run this event and they were not afraid to get right in there and work hats off to you guys.
AJ I know your a little POed after that last lap deal but you still were awesome.
As for Wess awesome job I know the results didnt come but the effort was 100 %.
As for My driver Cory Pollock let me tell you a story...
Corys mom sends me and MRP an e mail about a week before the event.
Marc Miller and MRP bent over backwords to get Cory in the Race and I have to thank them for that.
Corys motor after the super nats was still in pieces so that had to be prepaired, packed all his stuff put it on a plane ship it to florida build a kart from the ground up last week at Anderson Raceway Park while attending to 30 Birel Customers at our dealer 09 showcase event.
This kid deserves something we just have to fugure out what....
Oh and BTW for all the MUDSLINGERS, we didnt let Cory ware his new suit until the main so it was nice and pretty for the pictures.
So thats is awesome event great energy thanks Stars..

I'd like to congratulate ALL the teams and competitors for putting on a good show. I heard that someone publically called the race "not really a competition" - and I know that not one of the racers, mechanics or race fans in attendance would have ever agreed. It was a true race through and through.
I'd like to congratulate everyone on our team that showed exceptional speed and poise regardless of whether they were taken out or did well.
A last second effort was put together for Pollock and he didn't dissapoint, improving on a 5th place Q effort to work his way through the messes and making great passes on his way to the top karter in the final race. Way to go.
Wes Phillips was one of the contenders for the win all night, even after bad luck and contact with one particular overly aggressive driver . It was a great show though and we were happy we learned things about the chassis.
All of the MKP guys put on a good show as well and worked alongside us. Special thanks to them for putting together a strong effort, as well as Turn 1 ProSports who co-sponsored Wes and Tagliani with our program.
Allmendinger, Papis and Tag were GREAT to work with. They spoke with each person that approached, signed autographs and did well on track. AJ almost stood 2nd on the podium, but again - the god of incidental contact smote us down .
It was a great show guys - and felt very Saturday night NASCAR in the openness of the fans, music from the Red Bull DJ and the strong "star-power" of the drivers and teams. I can't speak for every team, but I assume they were very much like us and quick to answer questions and interact with the people walking through asking questions.
Thanks to PRI, Stars and organizers for bringing this race to the fans! _________________ "Luck is when Preparation meets Opportunity"

I would like to echo Marc's comments. For the second year I had the privilege of turning wrenches for Nelson Phillipe. This was a unique experience with all of the teams under one tent. Teams helping people regardless of which team they were from. We needed some extra weight and Kyle Wiegand loaned us some, we also got some miscellaneous items from MRP and Kart Mini and other teams borrowed items from us also. Everyone understood this was tremendous exposure for karting and we all benefited. As far as the competition there was not a driver there that did not want to, or felt they were not good enough, to win. Watching the Masters and some of the moves these ex-karters made on the track, unbelievable. The spectators coming thru the tent talking to the drivers, looking at and commenting on the quality of the equipment. All the drivers interacted and were fantastic ambassadors for the sport. In just 3 years this has become one of the premier karting events in the country and one to watch. I heard they are already making plans to double the number of grand stands for next year.
Only someone who was not there could say this was not a real race, try telling that to the drivers. |

That's right Bill...
I along with another Brain-Trust of J3 were able to spend a little time this past year with Steve and Michael Lewis while at a WSK race in Sarno during July.
In Sarno, Michael was really good toward the last couple of heats and I think he missed the final by only a few points. I'm fairly sure that Michael said he received nearly 400 laps on track during the one event! That's an unbelievable per-lap:per-dollar ratio!
At the end of the weekend in Sarno, the express toward the continutiy, consistency, ease of understanding, and competiveness were all expressed as being phenomenally high with the KF program by Steve and Michael. A really geat father and son duo.
Great show (PRI) Steve. Hopefully we see Michael in a month showing off is KF talents in Sunny Florida.

Two questions that I have after walking around the pits at the PRI Stars Race:
-I don't recall seeing any after market seats ..none of the ribtech or deepseats. I wonder what the reason is (obviously not due to the extra cost)?? ..chassis performance? manufacturer consistency?
-It seemed that a lot of the steering wheels were angled closer to vertical. Is this how the newer karts are being built? ..driver preference? Is this just a steering wheel hub that changes the angle?
Thanks in advance.

Ditto, Cody. Nice to see some "new" angles.
What a cool event. One -of-a-kind!
"Lord willin and the creek-don't-rise" I'll be there next year, in the stands, beer and a dog in-hand, lovin' it!! _________________ Bill Wright

Chris,
I can't speek for any other chassis than the Intrepids. But, for them there are some really good seats provided by Intrepid. As for the steering, myself included, an angled steering hub puts the wheel in a more natural place. _________________ Shut up and Drive !!!!
