Two things:
I thought there was to be a Masters Class (>35yo or >190lbs) at the Worlds (or am I ust stupid). I can't find the results.
Where can one purchase the rear bumpers that the Karts were using? Who manufactures it?

Just returned home late this afternoon and as it seems to be the standard proceedure for Alitalia Airlines/Air France to misplace your luggage comming and going, or going and comming. Canceled flights were also a problem but other than that it was great finding your way through the streets of Minervino De Lecce in southen Italy.
Thanks to our taxi driver Chuck Miinch and navagator Mike Tetreault, we would have never gotten to the track or made it back for our 7:00 PM dinner call. What a fun time that was. Thank you guys.
This is just my personal opinion of the racing.
As we all know the level of kart racing is much more intense than in the U.S. or should I say more talent or more aggresive. These guys were Euro Challenge Champions, National Champions, World Champions and just out right good drivers from all over the world. It was a great experence to watch and learn. That was worth the trip over in itself.
As far as the U.S. drivers, I thought we did a great job, all of the guys were real close on the time charts but as you know had alot of bad luck and luck is a big factor at least in this aggresive crowd of champions. Also the wet conditions were a factor as the team had never driven on Mojo wets. The U.S. team needs the funds to go and test proir to these events hands down.....
The facility has to be the best in the world, Just to see it let alone, drive on it [again was worth the trip.] If your a track owner in the United States You have to see La Conca, it's like an F1 Karting facility. CRG, Maranello and the Zanardi Karts were awsome.
The Rotax people were on their game and there had to been a hundred or so. Also I have never seen so many corner workers or what they call stewarts on the track at one time.
So thanks again to the Miinch family, Mike Tetreault, Marshall Martin, Dave Davies, Joe Ramos, Angallo and all the machanics and U.S. drivers that did there very best to represent the U.S.A.
Also Thanks Jon Nevoso.

Just got back last night. The guy backwards is Martin Pierce, he would recover to finish 3rd in the main for like the 3rd year in a row. He also won the Masters class. One more time just wanted to thank everyone that was apart of the USA team. Last post I forgot to mention Andres Lopez,Ryan Fowler and Tony. Hope everyone gets home ok, yesterday was a long day. _________________ Shayne Shipley

For the racing it was extremely intense on track. Camera in turn one to see the action but don't know if any decisions were done in the 1st turn. Racing was very tough and there were a lot of rough driving calls made and penalties handed out. You were allowed to race but not knock someone off track (unless it was the 1st turn). Only from what I saw.
Curtis finished 2nd in Masters congradulations to him too. _________________ Shayne Shipley

It's Martin Pierce. Currently racing for Ireland. He's also done Rock island and a few other US races. He's a great guy and the first Masters class driver to set the pole. He had bad heat races though so the finals didn't go so well for him. He is ther Masters champion though. He ended up 3rd in the final. So, you can still come back if you have bad heats. But it's very rare. _________________ -Ken Johnson

Those rear bumpers are a great idea! I think they should be required.
The KG bumper and mount kit total $ 189 from Acceleration or Comet. You just need to know what size tubing you have 28mm 30mm or 32mm.
They are easy to install and can save you more money than that by keeping a kart from landing on your head. _________________ www.accelerationkarting.com |

Could these bumpers encourage more agressive driving? _________________ Richard

Yes, but I think the race officials need to enforce the rules. If a guy is going to punt you he will do it regardless of the bumper you have. _________________ www.accelerationkarting.com |
