Damn I'm getting old., Helmet too, gotcha.
P.S. the guy with the dirty suit was in fact Cory. However I should have not said anything because I know that it's tough to fund racing. It would be pretty cool though if all the drivers did look like the Super Pro guys. That Sodi kart and driver looked freaking awesome.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Devin and I just want to thank everyone who made this S5 Championship possible: John Sefcik/SRS Engines was invaluable and fantastic, and, as he has always done, provided us with a great (and legal) motor; Brian Thomas and his son Tyler, old competitors from our Jr. 1 days who invited us to join them on the TopKart team; Brian's tuner, Mike, who has more knowledge about tuning karts than I could ever imagine; Mike from Grand Products who took Brian's word and allowed us to pit with them; the guys in the Kartel tent at Las Vegas who were always there and supportive if we had a question; Bell Helments for protecting Devin's head, and supporting us the last 2 years; and last but not least Jenifer, who let us head out there and race on her vacation week.
I also want to thank my fellow NTK racers who have helped us, by advice and guidance sometimes, and by providing us competition and pushing us to get faster at other times. A special mention here to Mark and Jake French, who we were chasing all weekend, for the clean racing and target for us to aim for in both speed and preparation. We were running second to Jake all weekend (a close second though), and to be honest our best shot had to be an error on their part . The boys raced hard and clean all weekend. And while we are elated with the win, that elation is tempered with our wish that we could have raced Jake to the end, and understand your disappointment. Again, nice job Jake and Mark. I also want to thank and acknowledge all of our competitors at the SuperNats, as well as Tom and his SKUSA team for putting on a great event.
My last thank you is to Devin. He drove smart and in control all weekend, never hitting the barriers or other karts, and never bent a thing on the kart. That allowed me to work on tuning and adjustments, rather than repair. The kart came home in better shape and appearance (other than the engine being in pieces in a box after post-tech) than when it left, and that was all possible because Devin drove smart, read the track conditions as they changed, and knew when and when not to push and risk his equipment. Yeah, I know I am biased and his biggest fan, but he just did a great job and kept his poise all weekend.

Well I think this is about enough about suits..how about the big picture..maybe something like the state of the economy and the future of karting at this time in the US and what about the people that make their living in the karting business?? Maybe we should focus on that..and see how we can keep everyone racing, which is what we all would like.. _________________ Cory Pollock

Dangerous topic there
!! off topic alert !!
(with my very basic economic understanding)
The key challenge I think you face in America is the dollar, and it's almost inevitable drop over the next year or two. We are seeing some stability with the dollar now, but various things are keeping that up that won't last. short term gain, long term loss
If the dollar does crash then you may have a serious problem importing goods especially stuff like karts/engines
At the SuperNats, the US's biggest one-off kart, event would I be correct in saying that 100% of the engines in TaG and ICC were manufactured in Europe, and a large percentage of the chassis too? Costs for you guys guy could go through the roof if this consumerism of foreign goods continues.
But to counter that it would force your industry to become more self sufficient. You may see a growth in US built chassis/engines in the kart scene. This in turn adds REAL value to the US economy instead of the false economy we see atm.
I wish the government would just let the recession HAPPEN instead of digging more holes
!! back on topic !!
The SuperNATS looked CRAZY AWESOME dudes! It really does put the rest of the karting world to shame in terms of organisation and show! _________________ Karting1.com - Home of the most awesome karting stuff on the net. |

I know Tom said the event is going to be back to a wednesday-sunday deal next year, which is good. I wouldn't be against starting the days later and having more racing under the lights. That had to have been the coolest racing ever. I have never had more fun racing than under the lights. I don't care if it was a long day and I got no sleep at night. Well worth it! _________________ www.chriswehrheim.com |
