EKN Trackside Live: Track Update - Friday
Good day, race fans!
The track is hot here at USA International Raceway for the final Eastern Division round of this year's Snap-on Stars of Karting series. The day dawned with rain drops falling on the facility, as it did last evening. The track was wet for the early practice sessions today, but it is now dry we begin the second of five rounds of practice.
I'll be heading into the paddock soon to gather some information. As always, if you have any questions, please post them here and we'll do what we can to track down the answers. _________________ Rob Howden

EKN LiveWire:
11:51 pm - Cadet wrapped up their third practice session and Andrew Murray led the way, running over a half-second faster that Breyton Santee. Mason Chellotz, Garett Grist and Trent Hindman made up of the rest of the fast-five.
JICA is now on track for their second session with Daniel Formal running the quickest at the five-minute mark.
12:12 pm - Team Topkart / Kartel Motorsports' Brenden Phinny ended up as the quickest in the third JICA session, edging Cameron Motorsports' Miles Maroney and Advanced Karting's Daniel Formal. Only 26 of the 31 karts had their transponders on. In TaG, Kartel's Neil Alberico was on top in the Topkart, ahead of J3;s Victor Cabrera and G-Phactory's Andrick Zeen. Champion's Joey Wimsett, who sits second in the Eastern points, was 18th.
12:35 pm - TaG ICC has eight entries this weekend and Jose Zanella was quickest in third session, turning a 1:01.104 in his Tonykart. Point leader Michael Higg was second ahead of Corey Rossman, who is making his debut in the class this weekend. Bryan Eady, who sits third in points, did not make the trip to Shawano and will be relying on his West points. ICC is now on-track with rookie Jacob Neal leading the way at the seven-minute mark. Jordy Vorrath, Hayden Duerson and Ryan Kinnear have not yet it the track in this session.
12:46 pm - The track time that Jacob Neal has been putting in running in the SKUSA ProKart Challenge is certainly paying off as he was quickest in the third ICC session, running a 58.988 to edge fellow CRG driver Gary Carlton by just 0.063 seconds. Cody Jolly was third ahead of David Jurca and Michael Vincec. We're now off for lunch.

EKN LiveWire:
3:08 pm - We're back at it here with the fourth round of practice. Canadian Garett Grist found some speed and moved to the head of the Cadet class with a 1:09.650. Grist's teammate Mason Chelootz was second ahead of Santino Ferrucci. Andrew Murray was quickest in Session #3 but slowed a little this time out, sitting fourth ahead of Luis Tyrrell.
JICA is finishing up right now, so I'll hold off to give you the top-five. Team Topkart continue to look good here at Shawano as Taylor Miinch just topped the JICA session with a 1:02.166. Tatianta Calderon was second, 0.143 seconds back. Spencer Pigot (Gillard), Miles Maroney (CRG) and Angel Caban (Kosmic) completed the top-five. Canadian Kevin Monteith finally put in a full session, jumping to 16th in the 31-kart field.
3:25 pm - Wimsett has returned to the lead in TaG practice with two minutes remaining in the fourth session. He's at a 1:01.741, less than a tenth ahead of Alberico, who looks good on the Topkart.
3:39 pm - Wimsett and Alberico topped the Stars TaG field, ending just 0.073 seconds apart. Cole Mann was third in the Maranello, coming off a second place finish at New Castle. Kyle Wiegand (Topkart) and Andrick Zeen (SodiKart) completed the fast five. TaG ICC just wrapped up as well, and Zanella was again the quickest of the nine drivers. Hogg was again second while Cole Mathewson was third in the Evolution Karting CRG.
4:01 pm - CRG remained on top in ICC, and once again, it wasn't Gary Carlton. Canadian Michael Vincec was quickest, running a 58.341 to site over three tenths clear of the two-time defending champion. Fritz Leesmann found some speed in his PSL Karting CRG, while Jacob Neal is still in the hunt in fourth. Ryan Yop and his Sodikart were fifth.
To update the last ICC posting, Hayden Duerson is not at Shawano this weekend, forced to miss the race for school commitments. Vorrath got a couple laps in, but sat 21st. I expect that he was breaking in a motor.

Vince,
I'll put up the final two rounds of practice as soon as they're completed. We just started the fifth of six rounds, so I'll get them up as I can. _________________ Rob Howden
