EKN Viewers,
It's that time, time for the Eagle. The WKA Manufacturer's Cup Series will host their 2008 Grand Nationals at the Badger Raceway in Dousman, WI this weekend.
The Dousman area has seen a large amount of rain in the past week and is currently getting hit again as the teams are setting up their pit areas for the weekend.
EKN will be trackside Friday afternoon to start the Trackside Live coverage throughout the weekend. Watch here for session results and updates on the coverage. If you have any questions or would like to comment, post it and we'll check it out for you. Thanks and enjoy the Father's Day weekend. _________________ David Cole

Rain all afternoon in the area with several thunderstorms rolling through. Tornado Watch right now with tornados about 45 minutes North of the track but the heavier stuff looks as if it will miss us.
Hope this isn't a repeat of the Stars of Karting event in New Castle and that everyone's tents are still there in the morning,.... _________________ Mike Maurini

Good morning,
I have just arrived to Dousman after negotiating my way around the flooded streets. The track is dry and has been since the start of practice this morning. The weather report is calling for rain sometime today, possible around 3pm. I'll work through the paddock taoday with some photos as well to bring you some updates. _________________ David Cole

Some updates from the paddock:
- Entries seem to be very well. We don't have an exact number but the TaG, Cadet, and Junior classes are running two groups of practice for each class. The Senior classes do look promising for total numbers as well.
- FirstKart.com's Chris Larson is the leader in the Ironman category, running six classes on the weekend. The current TaG championship leader will also run Yamaha Pipe and Sportsman classes. Veterans Brandon Adkins, Corey Reeves, Ryan Stewart and others are running four.
- In my first visit to the track, it seems there will be plenty of passing opportunities throughout the weekend. The 12 turn, 6/10-mile course will provide great racing for the prestigous WKA Grand National 'Eagle'.
- Local favorites Jamie Sieracki and Troy Hottmann are back behind the seat for the first time this year. Both former clutch and shifter kart veterans - they will compete in the TaG class aboard Merlin/Parilla packages.
Remember, if you have any questions or comments, let us know. _________________ David Cole

A couple observations on the track:
The overall facility is great but no bathrooms, just porta-pots, which is fine, but rather than running a 'retrieval vehicle' they are placing rolling kart stands out in the middle of the track for drivers to push back their karts. Now that may be fine for a club race, but not a National event. I'm sure there is a local John Deere dealer that could sponsor a pick-up vehicle for the weekend, like most tracks use. _________________ David Cole

David, a quick update, if you walk around to the side or back of the concession stand, there will be two doors. When you enter you should recognize several smaller rooms with doors, inside you will find some rather odd shaped chairs with a hole in the center and a handle on the side. There is also a role of paper mounted on the wall if you need to take notes while sitting there. If you picked the right door, you will also notice some roughly 4 ft tall porcelain fixtures on the wall. Now if you picked the wrong door, get out of their fast, if you were carrying your camera, you better really run.
See you tomorrow. Bob _________________ Bob Vehring
