Personally I'm not a fan of any sort of street or parking lot racing but this layout at this event in front of all of these people was about perfect. The racing line was tight but there were still multiple passing zones out there.
Gary Carlton was the show tonight for sure. He was really exciting to watch going in to turn one in particular - he could carry it in so much deeper than anyone else.
Good show by Stars, good racing, good announcing from Mr. Howden = great atmosphere and what should be a very exciting TV broadcast! |

I just got home from the races....perfect weather in the upper 60's with some great racing. Yes, that is the same Heath Voss from Super Cross, but I didn't know he retired. He actually impressed me, less than .5 seconds off the pace in qualifying and finished 8th in the prefinal. I believe Joey Hand broke his pipe in the prefinal and didn't have a replacement. I think that Alex Speed's frame was broken in the incident that red flagged the karters prefinal. They said he was using Scott's kart for the final and I think he lost the radiator cap, spewing the water on the track and was black flagged, leaving Scott without a kart for the final....at least I think thats who lost the radiator cap. Maybe the EKN staff can confirm that or correct it if I'm mistaken. The masters racing was good, but I feel there were one or two of them that shouldn't have been there, or at least should have been pulled after qualifying. At times they seemed clueless and were more than a second off the pace on a 14.5 second course and caused a few really close calls.
Gary Carlton did an incredible job, he won the 50 lap karter final which gave him and the next top five finishers the right to race in the masters final. For the 50 lap masters final, the six top finishing karters were placed at the tail end of the masters grid. Carlton came all the way through the pack from an 18th place starting position and passed Buddy Rice to take 2nd place in the closing laps and probably would have gotten Michael Valiante if they had another 10-15 laps.
I walked away looking forward to next years race.... _________________ KEEP WORKING....millions of people on welfare depend on you !! |

David,
You have Nelson Phillippe on a Gillard/Rotax. He was a last minute entry with SSC East on a CRG/Rotax. Incredible driver. |

Today and tomorrow, we'll be walking around and talking with some of the karting companies that are here at the PRI show displaying. Taking our first walk arounds, the big dogs are here with great displays and Rotax engines on most of the karts. We'll have photos of yesterday's race and of the displays later today. _________________ David Cole

| Just wanted to say, this was one of the best events I have attended for the sport of karting. The schedule was tight and it was tough to fix an issue if you had one, which ended up catching me out, but overall it was a concept that worked. The stands were PACKED, the public was really interested, and racing on a small track at night made everything look fast. Besides the packed grandstands, you couldn't find an open area by the fence to watch. Well done Stars! |

I think It would have been better for karting to have had this race at an actual go kart track. With run off.
We gotta get people to our go-kart tracks.

Before people will come to your local kart track, they need to at least know how exciting our sport really is. This event was perfect for the sport, and should become a permanent fixture on the schedule. With some more fine tuning it will hopefully launch the sport into the eyes of professional motorsports more than it already is, and further develop the business potential karting has.
Great job to the Stars crew and PRI for promoting and executing this event. Tony Kart looks forward to participating in the future. _________________ Cliff Kujala

|
|
Here is the first of many interviews that eKartingklipz.tv and MotorRevTv conducted with the drivers participating in the PRI Stars Race this past Thursday - in this first installment, Champ Car driver (and MotorRevTV favorite) Jan Heylen was interviewed by our Jennifer Bloss before the Final.

Jan had a tough time with electrical gremlins in the Pre-Final and the Final as he was headed towards a podium in each race only to drop out a few laps from the end of each race.
We will be posting more interviews and video from the show itself in the next few days.
Also. I was finally able to meet both Rob Howden and Marc Miller - both guys are great - if you've not met them, you need to!

Yeah that's great idea on having it at a local track, but what kart track is close enough to have this kind of event at, where karting is showcased to ALOT of non-karters. And on top of that an event like the PRI show begins in alot of the big name racers for the show, it's a great win win for karting.
Having helped in a kart booth on Saturday, I can tell you most of the people that stopped by were non karters. It's shows and events like the PRI that will allow karting to grow. To have many "racers" (non karters) comment on how fast these karts are is great for the sport. Those people will be able to go tell others about how awesome the kart race was.

| The event was awesome and exactly what karting needed. I cant wait for next year and to be able to race it. We had a lot of people coming by the booth that saw the race and were immediately interested in karting. The also were surprised on how cheap the packages are. This of course compared to other forms of racing. You could also tell they respect us much more from seeing how physical it was and how close the racing was. Having everyone under one tent was a great idea also. |

A Go-kart track misses out on all the attention and sales when a race is held in a parking lot.
Help increase hot dog sales and more at go kart tracks. |
