Moe, ours were 125cc chassis modified at the back end and seat strut areas. We CNC'd larger offset Direct Drive mounts and a mirror image mount for the left....All in all they cam together really nice.

BUILD ONE!! Twisted Evil

just found this web site check it out

www.twinenginekarts.com

Moe it's it cheaper to pickup and 2-3 year old 125 shifter chassis like Riley has done and Modify them, all the brakes are there. or you could build a all new one. Very Happy

looks there it a enough of these karts out there to have a RACE!!
to bad we didnt all live close. I know when we take ours out to practice
the pitts clear when we hit the track.

Thanks for the info. Yes, I can see where modifying a current chassis with front wheel brakes would be the preferred route for the average guy.

Idea I wonder how my two KT100's would look on an older modified chassis.....that might be a fun project Laughing

Hello all,

I have just come across this site and noticed that there happens to be a link to my kart on this post, i thought some of you might like to see her now. The kart has since won the 2007 West Austalian State titles in Geraldton.
This was the building phase, i won the pre-final of the 2006 title but DNF'd the final after loosing a chain.
http://www.kartsportnews.com/feat_trulli-twin.html

This is the kart in current form, now with 2 x Vortex RVA reeds. Had to gear the kart down as it was undrivable off the turns, too much wheel spin for the current tyre we are allowed. Not too often you find youself with too much power!

Here is a pic of myself on the dirt as well, i have now put the older Vortex engines onto my dirt beast.

Twin Power!!

Hi, Matt,
welcome to the EKN forums. Ihope you find them useful, informative, and entertaining at times !

Congratulations on your success with the championships, and on having built a very impressive kart.
Sorry i stole your "thunder" by posting the link to the Kartsport article last year, but i thought your efforts needed to be seen by our like minded collegues on here.
If you need any volunteers to track test your kart, Laughing ..just let me know. ! .....I am in Sydney.

In the south island of New Zealand there is a strong field of twins running in open class. A lot are now running normal shifter chassis with a special engine mount on the left, that requires no extra rails to be adddd to the kart. (so iv been told)
Any one tryed this?
How do twins handle? iv heard they are quit crap around corners.

From experience, they handle extremely well.....The symetrical balance can be fealt...However, with the extra weight on the back, the rear of the kart was extremely planted. I would like to do one with the new hand operated front brakes rather than shifter front brakes.....This will also compliment the nature of driving direct drive...

Thanks for posting it Chad...
Its nice to know there is appreciation out there for all the blood, sweat and beers that went into building the kart!

Twins do handle well when set up properly, they can be at times slower in the corners due to the extra weight but the time is more than made up for once you hit the straight. Our open class has weight limits according to power output, meaning twins run at 185kg and ICC or KZ as they now call it run at 180kg. Single engine 100cc reed or Rotary 150kg. There are more but i will have to find my rules...

With all of the new/used KT100's out there, what about Yamadoubles! We ran them in the early eighties and it was a huge class at the 81 IKF Nationals at Medford. With the expense of Tag and Rotax and the large amount of Yammis out there you could get alot of bang for the buck with twin Yamahas. Emmick, Margay how about some American Chassis helping produce high horsepower, low dollar Class!

The lap times for the shifter/Ica during the racing (not qually) where slower then the kz2 kart race times.

To those you never driven a twin, they are true kick in the pants fun. I wish they still had classes for them.

They corner differently than the singles. They basically stay down in the corners and you steer them with the throttle. When you punch off the corner, it is like being shot out of a cannon. Nothing sounds quite like them especially when the clutches are set up perfectly in sync.

A nice pair of open pipe Yamahas will surprise you. A couple of reeds is a scary kinda fun. They get tons of attention when you bring one out to the local track.

Glad to see the renewed interest. Long live the twins !!

Im think about building up a twin chassis out of a tonykart rekord. The problem is it has a 110mm engine mount instead of a 92mm.
Is it better to make a 4 bearing chassis by mirroring the right side of the chassis to the left or making a 3 bearing with center bearing and brake.
