George,
I raced twins in the 60's. Mainly "B" open Mac 91's. I had totally forgotten
the sound & feel of twins until I ran my siamesed KT 100's. You're dead on about the sound they make and the way the tune does change when they come on the pipe.Mine sit right next to my right arm and I can tell you that when the clutch hits, the pitch changes,it's a FUN ride!!!!!!!!!!!
Walt

Oh YEA Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

On the clutch, you had to listen and watch the tachs - it was not only important to have the clutches come in at the right RPM, both engines and clutches needed to be doing the same thing. But once they locked up, it was just hang on and listen to that sweet sound until the next corner came up. Very Happy

Do they run twins in vintage? Wink

Riley,
dunn'o, guess i spend too much time on kart web sites....and the marvels of the search engine Laughing
I would trade my ability to find pictures , for you ability to build amazing karts anyday ! Wink
PS: if you right click on a picture, and click on "properties" , you can pick out the source web site. Often there will be many more similar pic and interesting links there.

Hell yea.....twins rock! After 14 years of racing my father is FINALLY building one for Daytona, I cant wait to see his face after he first takes it out. I have been running B-Stock off and on for the past 7 years, I also have a Vintage twin built with Twin Atlas's for our vintage class at WKC.

Yeah, those things lasted a few laps and then faded bad. We didn't worry much about slowing down back in the 60s! Just pitched them sideways to stop.... kinda like a good snow skier Very Happy
