Better yet who can afford to go? Sure it has a 20k prize but what about the costs?

$350.00 entry
$25.00 one event SKUSA membership
$80.00 mandatory pit stall purchase (blatant rip-off!)
$360 for two sets of tires
$360 for two sets of practice tires
$75 for practice fuel and oil
Total=$1,250 not including transportation, eating, sleeping or other activities.

What I find interesting is the 1 event membership. They would not allow this in the regions if you wanted to race you have to pay the 75 membership rather you ran 1 race or 10.

Good Luck!

$20,000 purse for super pro. Bragging rights for the other classes. The little guy supporting the rich fat guy. What a concept. We wany to go however at those prices i am not sure. Whatever the cost they will have no trouble filling all the classes. With or without me going. Rolling Eyes

Well that’s what karting is all about the guy who lives in Florida who wants to go but even if the entry fee was $25 would probably not pay the 1900.00 in round trip fuel cost.

Why is it in only karting nay Sayers try and tear down something that has been a tradition for years?

$1200 to win $10,000 Im all in. everyone in SP gets paid I believe?

Let’s all have some fun and support the people who are trying to make a difference.

Where did you think the purse was going to come from? DAAA

We support our sport outsiders don’t.

If you don’t have something positive to say just don’t say shi*

75.00 for fuel and oil – pretty much the same cost as any other race

$ 180.00 for a set of tires – pretty much the same cost wherever you race. If you use as many sets at your regional / national, how is that more expensive????????

(I am not sure how you are going to use 2 race sets for 1 class, but perhaps you know something I don’t.)

$ 25.00 one event membership – I have yet to see any racing org. that lets you race without some form of membership.

$350.00 entry – yeah it’s a little steep, but if you only use 1 set of tires for your qual. heats & main, you are already $180.00 ahead and your entry is only $170.00 Smile .

How about hotel and food. You have to admit - $39.00 and $59.00 per night – I can’t remember a motel in SoCal that costs that little to stay in and if you find one, you’re better off sleeping in the back of your truck, because even the rats carry guns in that hood.

Not only is the accommodation cheap, but so is food and its VEGAS.

It may cost a little more than the typical regional, but then it isn’t your typical regional – it’s the SUPERNATS in VEGAS.

You can count me in for sure. The supernationals are a draw that is hard to explain. it is fun for everyone involved and is always host to the best racing in the country. Everyone shows up with their finest ready to rock. Hopefully this year will be better than all of the great experiences I have had going for the last 8 years.

Ask around and see what guys are paying to run STARS events this year. I am sure by time all costs are figured in, they are right about at the same cost. Plus, you can't beat the cheap rooms available this year.

I agree that the entry fee's are more than your average club or
regional race, but, the SuperNats are not average races. I have not been
to the SuperNats yet, but I am sure it is comparable to the RIGP. There
are a few of us here in Texas that are talking about "car pooling" to the
SuperNats. It not only breaks the individual fuel price per man down, but
also makes a hard drive easier. Try and find someone in your area that
wants to go and split the costs by car pooling. Remember that the majority
of us are doing this for fun and each person has to factor in what they
are willing to pay for that fun. Also remember that you did buy a go-kart
for $4500.00 or more; this is not a cheap sport.

Yeah, all the SP's get paid, right out of the pockets of the lower level classes. When you see a lowly stock moto guy in the hotel lounge buy him a drink, he's paying YOUR purse.

I think it is the same price(tires/pit/entry/fuel) as last year, despite the purse going up for the Superpro drivers.

I see the event combining:

1. Racing
2. Gambling
3. Strippers
4. Cheap Hotel Rooms at Hooters
5. Hooters Girls
6. Reason to leave the wife and kids at home

It's the "Pick Six" of the karting world.

Last year's Supernats adventure:
http://www.nsxfiles.com/oct_2005.htm

If Wayne can make it to P3 on the grid for last year's Stock Honda Main, anyone can! Us SoCal drivers want to see how we match up with the rest of the Stock Honda drivers across the nation. Maybe even have willing Stock Honda drivers throw in $20 each towards our own little "prize money" to the new Stock Honda King at the Supernats.

I think we all have said at one point that we would not go to the SuperNats again becasue of various reasons due to the old organizations running of the event. But now that there is a New Organization I think we all will give the Tom a chance to show us the magic he so promises us.

Chuck,
A few comments:
According to the SKUSA website, pit space reservations are not mandatory
The price of tires is the same as for a local event
The price of fuel/oil is the same as for a local event
It appears that entrants will get significantly more seat time at the SuperNats than any other event of its kind
This is a four day event at a venue that probably costs the promoter 30-40 times the amount of a local track rental.
SKUSA has negotiated super deals on rooms at a great hotel in a destination resort city ($39-$59).
The cost to attend the SuperNats 4 day event is on a par with a Stars 3 day event and a large group of karters race 5 or 6 or those a year.
The SuperPro purse is probably the largest single class payout in karting and should attract the best of the best.
Rumor is that there are impressive prizes for classes other than SuperPros yet to be announced.
The SuperNats is arguably the highest profile single karting event in North America
Las Vegas is a great place to visit for all ages
As the TV ads state - "Experiencing the SuperNats ............ PRICELESS"

While the SuperNats may not be right for everyone, it is open to everyone. Based on my prior trips, those that take advantage of the opportunity will not be disappointed. Suggest you holster your negativity, save up a few bucks and join the fun.

The pit stall item has been edited. Probably in response to the overwhelming negative response.

For what my opinion is worth, the chance to run with the nations best Karters is worth the price of entry and then some! Add to that the Las Vegas entertainment and you could charge double and still be a bargain. So count me in. 125 Stock Moto 06 Intrepid Explorer Pro 400 Lbs. So who is going to run with me?
